Latest Gallup: Rudy Drops, Fred Rises

The latest Gallup poll, conducted June 11-14, 2007, has Rudy Giuliani leading the Republicans at 28% (down 4 points since the last Gallup Poll) with Fred Thompson gaining 8 points to place second with 19%. McCain falls to third with 18% (down 1 point), Romney is at 7% (down 5) and Gingrich also is at 7% (down 1).

What's remarkable about that is that Fred Thompson hasn't spent any advertising money at all in getting to second place. He also hasn't appeared in any of the debates. That does not bode well for the other Republican primary candidates.

On the Democratic side, Hillary has gained 1 point from the last Gallup poll to hit the 33% mark. Obama has fallen 9 points to 21%. Rounding out the Democrats are Al Gore at 18% (up 1 point), John Edwards unchanged at 11%, and Bill Richardson at 5% (up 2).

These results must be disappointing for Barack Obama, who had climbed into a tie with Hillary in the last Gallup poll taken June 1st - 3rd, 2007.
