As Matt Singer reported earlier, Barack Obama has astounded everyone with his unheard of take in the second quarter. The numbers are staggering. $32.5 million dollars raised in three months. He handily beat Hillary Clinton ($27 million), and positively crushed John Edwards ($9 million). The number of people donating to his campaign is unprecedented at such an early stage of a race. 258,000 added to his coffers. Most importantly, Obama has allocated aside the vast majority of his war-chest for the primary election. $31 million of this quarter's take will be available to use on ads effective immediately.
So what is Obama doing with all the cash? Well, if you live in Iowa, chances are you've seen the following ad. The key for Obama, like Mitt Romney on the GOP side, is to introduce himself to the American public. When you rake in these kinds of totals, that task is much, much easier.

1. With that kind of money he can buy ads AND obtain the best policy advice on the planet. I still think the campaigns will end up being about issues and not just money.

2. Edwards and his wife made 36 million dollers ( 1/3 of the total they took from the medical industery) by suing doctors on behalf of babies that had ceribal paulsly even though most medical experts knew the doctors did not cause it. He became very rich using the stupidity of juries. He is part of what gives lawyers a bad name and drives up the cost of seeing a doctor.
The presidency is an executive position, a manager. Edwards has never held any executive position.

3. I hope somebody is giving credit where credit is due when it come to Obama and his cash collection machine. He has tapped into Hollywood and Oprah's fans. Obama is like the latest book in her book club. Oprah's endorsement, the songs, and fear of Hillary drive people to donate. It's like a rage against the machine. Obama hasn't distinguished himself in any way. He hasn't done a thing as the only Black Senator and we don't know what he would do in a higher office. Basically, Obama hasn't paid his dues, but an unknown Black is better than investing in the Other Clinton. John Edwards can't make traction if he's afraid to get his hair messed up fighting to unite the party. If Clinton and Obama could find a way to unite, this race would be over. Funny thing, Hillary isn't thinking about taking a Black as her VP. Obama isn't thinking about serving as one now either. Blacks aren't thinking about their best interest. They are enjoying the attention while being shown the door. The game is "Divide and Conquer." Who can unite and win?

I like this Cecil Jones posting. It's right on the money.
