I've been away from this blog for a bit. Work and all that. While I was gone the race for the White House has taken some interesting turns. Bottom line? With the exception of Obama there is little excitement about the candidates on either side. Sure, there are die hard partisans but no candidate is lighting up the house. We're still looking around and saying What if? What if Gore ran?
He'd clear the Dem field.
The only obstacle for Clinton in the Democratic primary is Al Gore. Twenty-nine percent of Clinton voters would switch to Gore if he announced for president, and when all of the switches from other Democratic candidates were recalculated, Gore would defeat Clinton. In total, 32 percent of Democratic voters would support Gore over the candidate they are currently leaning toward.
That's not all. See what George Will and others have to say. Now I don't know if Gore will enter the race or not. But if he does, he'll find a lot of support. It appears he has learned from his mistakes and is ready to take on the entrenched interests. His book The Assault on Reason vaulted to the top of the best seller lists (unlike say Newt's) and he has those concerts coming up. Plus he thinks running these long campaigns is not necessary. I'm still uncommitted but I'm liking what I'm seeing. As long as he keeps 'the professor' at bay, who knows?

1. Gore would definitely have a shot at the presidency, but it is still looking at the past rather than the future. The environmental issues he champions these days are not that exciting, sorry to say.

2. Al Gore simply must run. There is no alternative. Gore is the only candidate that can turn this ship around.

3. Hey, here's a real question for you: if you're not dedicated to this blog, then why are you allowed to write for it in the first place? What's the point in putting together an even field of liberal and conservative bloggers if only ONE of the liberal bloggers writes on a regular basis while three of the conservative ones do? It's three times the misinformation, for crying out loud!
Seriously, what exactly is AOL thinking? Did the people running this site even think it through in the slightest? Did they bother to search for intelligent conservatives? Is there a minimum number of posts that should be done on a weekly basis?
I'd really love to know the details of this site, because it truly baffles the mind.

6. Ken, There are other progressive bloggers on this site and I did suggest another blogger to AOL. I had a period where I was working 60 hr weeks, etc and didn't have the time. I have no idea how AOL runs things either, but I'll contribute as best possible. I do try and post when I think there is something relevant to say and it's about the 2008 elections. Keep commenting and it's good you noticed-keep us on our toes sir.

7. Keep Gore out of the race. We don't need him to bring his "crybaby loser" attitude of the 2000 election into this one and put this country on hold again, because he can't accept defeat. Hillary will do just fine.

8. I do believe Gore just recently cancelled all his appointments for the next six months. Sounds like a run to me.

9. I would love to see Hillary Clinton go down in flames. When you can't control a marriage how are you going to take control and run a country. And another thing, stop splitting America into races (Black and White) we are a country of one Hillary!!!!!!

10. There is no reason to worry who gets the nomination in either party. Whoever gets elected, the same people will be pulling their strings. Then it will be business as usual.

11. Gore can't even clear the doorway...abit to thick in the waist and that big bag of "carbon credits he carries around just don;t let him pass anything except gas. He is a crybaby looser,... liberals really are that stupid....let's travel all around the world in a private jet to champion energy conservation...only a liberal could be that dumb ...but then again look at his audience.
liberals are suicidal... problem is they want to take the rest of us with them...suppose it is lonely in hell on earth/

12. and phil... PROGRESSIVE... give us a break... a candy coated word for socialist, leftist, code pink, george soros and bab on dot orgy, hate america first and yes LIBERAL scum. There is nothing progressive about it... it's been around as long as there have been tyrants and dictators.

13. Paul... isn't that what they said about the Titnic?

14. While I like Al Gore, I think politics has passed him by at this point. Unless the Democrats become absolutely deadlocked, there's no reason to turn to a non-contender.

15. If Gore couldn't win in 2000, why would the same voters want him in 2008? The country thought Dubya was great then, has he done something to fall into disfavor.
He has done little that was not expected by many of us. We tried to warn you, but you still thought Dubya was the man.
