I've been away from this blog for a bit. Work and all that. While I was gone the race for the White House has taken some interesting turns. Bottom line? With the exception of Obama there is little excitement about the candidates on either side. Sure, there are die hard partisans but no candidate is lighting up the house. We're still looking around and saying What if? What if Gore ran?
He'd clear the Dem field.
The only obstacle for Clinton in the Democratic primary is Al Gore. Twenty-nine percent of Clinton voters would switch to Gore if he announced for president, and when all of the switches from other Democratic candidates were recalculated, Gore would defeat Clinton. In total, 32 percent of Democratic voters would support Gore over the candidate they are currently leaning toward.
That's not all. See what George Will and others have to say. Now I don't know if Gore will enter the race or not. But if he does, he'll find a lot of support. It appears he has learned from his mistakes and is ready to take on the entrenched interests. His book The Assault on Reason vaulted to the top of the best seller lists (unlike say Newt's) and he has those concerts coming up. Plus he thinks running these long campaigns is not necessary. I'm still uncommitted but I'm liking what I'm seeing. As long as he keeps 'the professor' at bay, who knows?

16. Each day that passes Hillary is beginning to act as a surrogate for her husband.Don't the Democrats have anything to offer other than recycled candidates?

17. Gore WON THE ELECTION in 2000. Without Bush around to STEAL the election Gore would easily win. Unless the people could somehow steal the election for Obama, the only REAL CHANGE on the political horizon. We've had enough of Bush(w/Reagan 8 years), Bush 4 years, Clinton/Gore 8 years, Bush 8 years = 28 years of either a Bush, Clinton(or Gore) in the White House. ENOUGH IS TOO MUCH!!!

18. Al Gore is clearly the best person in the country for this job (unless we can persuade George Mitchell to run).
Gore is clearly forward looking: he wrote a book on the world environment in 1993, he has given thousands of lectures on the biggest issue facing the 6.6 billion people in the world, global climate change. He was right on the war BEFORE the war of aggression was launched.
If he runs, there is no candidate that can stop him from winning in a landslide.

19. William, I suppose you're totally ignoring Fred Thompson or has your head been buried in the sand and you've not heard of him? Better not ignore him for too long because the rest of the Democrats seem to fear him the most...Fred Thompson for President! (Gore vs. Thompson? Now that might be an interesting matchup.)
