We all remember the now famous interview between Chris Matthews and Ann Coulter, and the exchange between Coulter and Mrs. Edwards. But on that same program Coulter also stated that she would prefer Duncan Hunter over the three leading republican candidates Giuliani, Romney, and McCain. Not that I believe anyone would want her endorsement, but I decided to give Hunter a closer look.
Duncan Hunter is supported by the aviation legend Chuck Yeager, the first pilot who broke the sound barrier. Congressman Hunter is extremely conservative. At one point he called Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney and John McCain the Kennedy Wing of the GOP. That is obviously something he is very proud of saying. Otherwise he would have not posted it on his website. Hunter is against abortion and against using embryos for scientific research. He also supports the "Establishment and free exercise clauses of the first amendment." He is for the right to bare arms and not just because he likes hunting. He believes that citizens should have the right to protect themselves. He is for the definition that marriage is a union between one man and one women. He says he always has voted against legislation that would allow federal government to assist local authorities in prosecution of so-called hate crimes. To congressman Hunter a crime is a crime regardless if the it was motivated by a persons race, color, sexual orientation or religion. He supports strict punishment of all crimes to the full extend of the law.
His highest priorities in this presidential campaign are border enforcement, the war on terror and, interestingly enough, fair trade. Hunter did not agree with the Comprehensive Immigration Reform which has failed last week. He promises if he was elected President he would build the fence on our southern border (854 miles) within six months. He says his triple fence in San Diego County reduced Illegal Immigration by 90% and crime by 54%. He claims that border enforcement is also a national security issue since people from all countries are crossing our southern border. His plan for Iraq is to train all 129 Iraqi battalions by deploying them to the hot zones in Iraq so our troops can leave. A stable friend, he says in that region is in Americas best interests. He proposes to bring other countries back to the table for fair trade. He believes that the American Manufacturer is actually taxed twice. He also believes that China cheats by devaluing their currency by 40%. He would negotiate fair trade deals with other countries. He also wants to eliminate all taxes for companies who stay in the United States and this way jobs would stay in this country and it would give manufactures opportunities to expand for a strong industry.
Well after I took a closer look at Duncan Hunter I would say he is a bit too conservative for my moderate taste. However, I think he brings some interesting points for discussion to the table. Even so, he doesn't stand a chance to get the republican nomination. He may be running for vice-president.

1. I find Duncan Hunter very refreshing. I would be willing to strongly support Duncan Hunter or Tom Tancredo. The most important issue is resolving our illegal aliens in this country and to resolve it is not by declaring any type of amnesty. I may disagree on some small issues but I find these two men to be my favorites by a country mile, and that country would be the good old USA. I think they are great Americans and I feel this country needs some great American leaders. Proud to be an American although disappointed in our leaders.

2. You are so right about Duncan Hunter. When I heard about him for the first time on the Sean Hannity show, I had to find out more about him. As I got to reading more about him, I made up my mind that this is the kind of leader our country needs.
I noticed that you stated that Duncan doesn't have a chance to get the nomination by the Republican party but really he does. We just have to get the word out. It seems that more and more people are figuring out the that TOP TIER candidates are the same ol' politics kind of guys that won't take our country in the direction it needs.
SO...GET THE WORD OUT! Find out more about Duncan Hunter HERE! .

3. I was refreshed by Duncan Hunter's views! I emailed my dad and he responded by asking me who Duncan Hunter was, and how he can learn more about him? I think that the debate last night was a farce. It seemed like the questions were more directed at who the moderator felt was more likely to win, rather than at giving each candidate a chance to answer the questions. It seemed like there were not a fair share of questions asked of some of the lesser known candidates. I, too, feel we have to get the word out, and also back up our support with the needed dollars too. I'm willing to do my part here in Texas!

4. the first time i heard hunter, i could tell he was totally different than all the other politicians. in my oppinion, a true man, telling the people what he is all about, not just telling them what they want to hear. its too bad the people of this country are so nieve. we should all keep this election in our prayers. the greatest country on earth is in transition and only God can help us.

5. I have been a supporter of Duncan Hunter since I first read about his campaign and his views on how he would run this country.
He may not be a front-runner, but I believe he will lead the pack after more folks get to know him better.

6. Duncan Hunter is a man of conviction, a man of substance and an American hero and success story. We need experienced leadership in the White House...as a congressman, I feel that Duncan is truly "closer to the people", and I prefer that. At this time in our histroy, we need a President with military experience, both on the battlefield and in government...Duncan has that, and NO other Republican candidate does. It blows me away that Hunter does not have more traction...goes to show how intellectually lazy America is...

7. I am refreshed and excited to have Duncan Hunter in the race. He has been our Congressmen for many years and I can only say that he stands by his word and follows through on is commitments. He is realistic in his views. He would definately have my vote for President.

8. People stop letting the mainstream media decide for you who your going to vote for. The next president of the United States needs to be a strong leader. A man of conviction and integrity. Someone who does not just talk, but actually does what they promise to do. We need someone who still believes in the USA. That person is Duncan Hunter. We can make this happen so lets do it.
