The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds New York Senator Hillary Clinton (D) tied with former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson (R) in an Election 2008 match-up. Both candidates attract support from 45% of voters. Given a Clinton-Thompson match-up, 5% of voters say they'd pull the lever for some other candidate and 4% are not sure.Hillary is actually behind in only one match-up with GOP presidential hopefuls who do have active, declared campaigns -- that's Rudy Giuliani (46%) vs. Hillary(45%). The other major GOP-Hillary match-ups are: Mitt Romney (42%) - Hillary (46%) and John McCain (42%) - Hillary(46%).

Poll: Hillary 45%, Thompson 45%
Rasmussen is reporting today that a new poll (conducted June 27-28, 2007) shows that there's a Clinton-Thompson tie in the race for the presidency in 2008. That's Hillary Clinton tied with Fred Thompson, not Tommy Thompson. Thompson, who has yet to declare, has neither campaigned nor spent any money on advertising so far.

1. The way he's going, this guy may win it all as a write in without ever entering the race.

2. People in the news and on blogs keep reporting that Guiliani beats out Clinton in polls, but that must be the only poll, because all other polls, has Clinton beating all the GOP nominees. And Fred Thomson will fall in polls once he enters the race. the man is a horrible speaker, he is so broad in his talking.
For a list of all polls i suggest looking here:

3. The fact is that about half of the voters would not support the nomination of Hillary Rodham Clinton. Fred Thompson is a refreshing answer to running against a far left winger. He has some warts, but they are small. The questions may end up do we want to go forward, or do we want to look backward? Do we want a conservative with a brain, or do we want socialized medicine, poorly contrived economic policies that stifle our abilities of companies to compete in a global economy. Do we want a President who will finally plug up the north and south borders and THEN take proposals of what to do with the folks here illegally. Previous Presidents have NOT solved the problem and that is why it is out of hand today. Do we want liberal social engineers on the Court or do we want Supreme Court nominees that will follow the law and not make it? These are very important questions and I am confident Fred Thompson will be up to the task, pleasing the conservatives and dumbfounding the democrats, most pleasantly in the process.

5. Given the furor with which democrats & their news services are out slamming & micharacterizing Thompson, they must truly be worried. This poll shows why.

6. "no matter what." That is what I am talking about, no matter what cliff they lead you over, you are ready to follow? Where is the logic in that? You don't like Bush, so you are going to vote for the Clintons again? There is a reason that an unannounced candidate can get poll numbers equal to your "best" candidate that you support, no matter what. Fred Thompson is simply spoken, but not simple, he is more capable than democrats give him credit and he embodies conservative principles that obviously escape many democratic voters. He also has the ability to calm the waters as it were and not further divide our republic. That is something the President and Congress have been unable to do, in fact, have been relatively paralyzed from doing much of anything. Voters will ask for a change and I hope will resist a strong move to the left.

8. Let us remember THE CLINTONS are not getting elected again, Hillary is getting elected, and let us also remember Bill pardoned well over 100 criminals his last day in office, and Hillary was crooked in Arkanas cam you just imagined if she was to get close to the Presidency what she may do.

9. Wow, i hope people know that this is the ONLY poll in which every democratic candidate doesn't top every republican. Clinton will win. Her negatives have steadily dropped and she is becoming increasingly popular with Americans. She has performed flawlessly in the debates and people are realizing she is not this crazy far-lefter. She is probably the most moderate of all the candidates on either side of the isle. Once people are confronted with either voting for her or another republican, she will win out easily.
