Poll: Hillary 45%, Thompson 45%

Rasmussen is reporting today that a new poll (conducted June 27-28, 2007) shows that there's a Clinton-Thompson tie in the race for the presidency in 2008. That's Hillary Clinton tied with Fred Thompson, not Tommy Thompson. Thompson, who has yet to declare, has neither campaigned nor spent any money on advertising so far.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds New York Senator Hillary Clinton (D) tied with former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson (R) in an Election 2008 match-up. Both candidates attract support from 45% of voters. Given a Clinton-Thompson match-up, 5% of voters say they'd pull the lever for some other candidate and 4% are not sure.
Hillary is actually behind in only one match-up with GOP presidential hopefuls who do have active, declared campaigns -- that's Rudy Giuliani (46%) vs. Hillary(45%). The other major GOP-Hillary match-ups are: Mitt Romney (42%) - Hillary (46%) and John McCain (42%) - Hillary(46%).
