We've known for quite some time that Ron Paul is a "9/11 Truther" (or at least supported by those who are)--one who believes that 9/11 was done with the knowledge or complicity of the Bush administration. Now he's agreeing that conspiracies that have not yet happened will in fact come to pass:
Speaking to The Alex Jones Show, the Texas Congressman was asked his opinion on Cindy Sheehan's recent comments that the U.S. is in danger of a staged terror attack or a Gulf of Tonkin style provocation that will validate the Neo-Con agenda and lead to the implementation of the infrastructure of martial law that Bush recently signed into law via executive order, as well as public pronouncements from prominent officials that the West needs terrorism to save a doomed foreign policy.
"I think we're in great danger of it," responded the Congressman, "We're in danger in many ways, the attack on our civil liberties here at home, the foreign policy that's in shambles and our obligations overseas and commitment which endangers our troops and our national defense."
He believes that a terror attack will be staged to allow the evil Neo-cons of the Bush administration unimpeded access to attack Iran.
OK, I've had serious issues with Ron Paul's campaign. Besides his hypocrisy on earmarks and other issues, he's pretty much been...well, sane. Now, I'm not quite sure.
Here we have a presidential candidate (sure, one who is polling at 0%) who is saying on the record that he believes the current administration is capable of faking a terror attack, which will kill people, simply to advance their ideology. That's not campaigning, that's in the realm of JFK conspiracy theorists and Heavens Gate.
I was a huge critic of Bill Clinton and his policies -- including his non-action when the embassies and the USS Cole were attacked. I would never, ever, suggest that Clinton was capable of staging an attack to push his policies through. Maybe I'm naive in that assumption about any government official, but for Ron Paul to even consider this -- let alone say it out loud and on the air--is inconceivable to the average American.
Ron Paul's campaign has attracted a large Internet following, one that is boisterous and vocal (watch the comments to this post), but to think that they could defend this is preposterous and downright scary. The thought of the Ron Paul Brigades in tin hats is, of course, amusing though.

301. Ron Paul may very well believe all of his conspiracy theories (and there is probably alot of truth in them). However, the trick to a good spin machine is to mix a bit of truth in to get you to believe everything that their forcing on you. Trying to implicate the Clinton administration (and by association his wife) in conspiracies, is absolutely ridiculous. If something was done during the Clinton administration, I'd say it was probably done (in his name) while he was busy being distracted by the impeachment and WITCH HUNT for wrong-doing that started the day he took office. Don't believe everything you hear. THINK for yourself.

305. Benjamin Disrali an old British Prime Minister was quoted as saying that in power politics things to not happen by accident. The unfortunate fact is that the truth about 9/11 (who knww what and when and who provoked what and why) will not be known by this generation. Like the truth about the Reichstag fire which led to the NAZIs taking control in Germany, the blowing up of the Main which led to the Spanish American war, the sinking of the Lusitania which led to the America's entry into WWI, the breaking of the Japanese code and the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The list is long and endless. Let's us all remember that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Ron Paul has taken the position that says, when it comes to questions of power do not trust the politicians in Washington but bind their hands with the chains of the Constitution. These chains have been broken and the Constitution has been turned into a by-word. Ron Paul will fight to restore the Constitution and the Liberty of the people.

306. I have never heard a "truther" basher explain why WTC 7 fell into its own footprint @ 5:20 P.M. They don't even want that topic brought up...and, NO, it was NOT on fire!!... I've seen the video dozens of times. Why won't a "truther" basher ever talk about BUILDING SEVEN!!! Scott, I dare you to discuss BUILDING SEVEN. Are you brave enough, or are you a wimp?

307. Ron Paul doesn't believe it was an "inside job" stop being a neocon-warmonger and filling his mouth with your words. This pathetic old routine is getting old and Americans are not as dumb as you think. They are not falling for this lame old political bureaucracy anymore. Wake up and smell the reality. Ron Paul is for limited and open government, freedom and less taxes. Nothing wrong with that so you make up lies and try to attack him.
thats sad and pathetic you people that say this stuff.. just pathetic.

308. Ron Paul is not a conspiracy theorist and has never said anything to that matter. If Ron Paul thought 911 was a conspiracy why did he approve funding for the US to go into Afghanistan and hunt down Al Qeada. Ron Paul was one of the only Republicans who voted against the Iraq war and now 4 years and thousands of American lives later everyone seems to be agreeing with him. The Iraq war seems to have no end in sight, unless we elect Ron Paul, and Al Qeada and Osama Bin Laden are still threats to our nation's security. Maybe we should have listened to Dr. Paul a little more and put more of our troops in Afghanistan to stop the real threat instead of engaging in an illegal war of conquest that has accomplished nothing.

310. Quick synopsys of a few 9-11 oddities.
1. NORAD totally failed four times on 9-11 The Commission said they had difficulties tracking the planes because the hijackers shut the transponders off. I don't ever recall hearing anything about the old Soviet MIGs having transponders and NORAD was initially set up to track them.
2. The only three steel framed buildings to ever totally collapse due to fire were WTC1, 2 and 7. They fell at a rate approaching free-fall speed. And the collapses were just as neat as any controlled demolition when allowing for the fact these buildings were not gutted out.
3. Out of all the billions of pounds of debris strewn all over the WTC sight, someone found one of the hijacker's passport. Intact.
4. With hundreds if not thousands of planes in the air over the US at the time, the president was not evacuated from the school he was visiting. As protective as the Secret Service is why was he not evacuated from the school? His visit was announced in advance. How did they know that a plane wasn't targeted at the school?
It is understandable why Ron Paul would question the government panel's findings.
Without assigning any blame I find the Commission's official conspiracy theory (which it is) lacking in credibility. Sounds about as credible as Oswald's "magic bullet"

312. Ron Paul is the only candidate who utilizes the no longer common tool of 'common sense' The official stories of 9/11, The Iraq War, The Economy, ... are constructs of fantasy and artifice. Those who believe in the official version of events, propogated by the media, have suspended their sense of reality in the same way that a theatre-goer voluntarily suspends his....
Since those in power wish to preserve and maintain their power - it follows that a staged attack - which would lead to a further consolation of power - is a distinct possibility.

313. The man is right! History has shown us time and time again, the length men will go to to hold and consolidate power. Does Reichstag or Gulf of Tonkin, ring a bell?----People have been executed here, on less circumstantial/coincidental, than the events involved in 9/11

314. Adam is completely stuck on "play" as a tool of "loosechange.com". You know, that "documentary" that was written by a guy looking to write fiction. Loose Change has been thoroughly, totally, completely debunked, kid. It is not only full of inaccuracies, it's CHOCK full of them, and they're big ones, not just something as innocuous as a "misstatement."
If you want ANY credibility, stop being a tape recorder for Loose Change. There's nothing wrong with questioning the government. PLEASE, by all means, QUESTION THE GOVERNMENT, ABOUT EVERYTHING. But believing debunked nonsense, and worse, disseminating it as "fact" means you have the credibility of Pee Wee Herman.

315. Looks like many of you are tin foil hat people. That's ok, I have a friend like that. Believes the rantings of the uneducated, who see conspiracy around every corner, but I usually just shut him up.
WTC1, 2, and 7 are not the first buildings in history to collapse from fire. They are, however, the first buildings to collapse BECAUSE 757/767s were SMASHED INTO THEM, WITH FULL FUEL PAYLOAD, GOING FULL SPEED....a fact "Loose Change" ignores.
If it weren't for the footage of the planes smashing into the buildings, I have ZERO doubt that most of you 7th grade types would believe THAT was fiction, too. Oy.
Sensibility is dead.
