We've known for quite some time that Ron Paul is a "9/11 Truther" (or at least supported by those who are)--one who believes that 9/11 was done with the knowledge or complicity of the Bush administration. Now he's agreeing that conspiracies that have not yet happened will in fact come to pass:
Speaking to The Alex Jones Show, the Texas Congressman was asked his opinion on Cindy Sheehan's recent comments that the U.S. is in danger of a staged terror attack or a Gulf of Tonkin style provocation that will validate the Neo-Con agenda and lead to the implementation of the infrastructure of martial law that Bush recently signed into law via executive order, as well as public pronouncements from prominent officials that the West needs terrorism to save a doomed foreign policy.
"I think we're in great danger of it," responded the Congressman, "We're in danger in many ways, the attack on our civil liberties here at home, the foreign policy that's in shambles and our obligations overseas and commitment which endangers our troops and our national defense."
He believes that a terror attack will be staged to allow the evil Neo-cons of the Bush administration unimpeded access to attack Iran.
OK, I've had serious issues with Ron Paul's campaign. Besides his hypocrisy on earmarks and other issues, he's pretty much been...well, sane. Now, I'm not quite sure.
Here we have a presidential candidate (sure, one who is polling at 0%) who is saying on the record that he believes the current administration is capable of faking a terror attack, which will kill people, simply to advance their ideology. That's not campaigning, that's in the realm of JFK conspiracy theorists and Heavens Gate.
I was a huge critic of Bill Clinton and his policies -- including his non-action when the embassies and the USS Cole were attacked. I would never, ever, suggest that Clinton was capable of staging an attack to push his policies through. Maybe I'm naive in that assumption about any government official, but for Ron Paul to even consider this -- let alone say it out loud and on the air--is inconceivable to the average American.
Ron Paul's campaign has attracted a large Internet following, one that is boisterous and vocal (watch the comments to this post), but to think that they could defend this is preposterous and downright scary. The thought of the Ron Paul Brigades in tin hats is, of course, amusing though.

91. Paul: Well, I think the more we know about what we went on is good. But I don't think there's any evidence of [an inside job] and I don't believe that. The blame goes to bad policy.

92. Jor,
The terrorists are not out to conquor the world. They actually were leaving us alone, until we decided to start and continue bombing them over 1/2 century ago. 9/11 is retaliation - you probably noticed that they only attack countries that attacked them first. How do you think America would act if another country treated us the way we treat those in the Middle East?
To Christianize this war is to bring back the crucades, which is the ugliest part of the history of the Christian Church. Jesus NEVER intended Christians to use force to spread His message or use force to make people follow his morals, lifestyle, etc. Paul was equally clear when he told Christians not to judge those outside of the church.
I believe if we left the Middle East and demonstrated our intent not to continue to kill them by the thousands without provocation, our conflict with them would end.
By the way, the 9/11 commission report, the head of the Bin Laden Unit at the CIA, FBI testomony, and Al Queda itself all agree with Ron Paul - 9/11 happened as an act of retaliation.

93. "It's bad enough the anti war activist said all kinds of sick comments to our country's beloved President"
That's a joke right? No one love's the person currently occupying the White House...what's his approval rating?
Don't flatter yourself, Mr. Bush is a worthless fear mongering war hawk.

94. kfed #58 You don't make any sense are you telling me the precious lives of so many of our fellow Americans that these Islamists have murdered dating back since the seveties are our faults?for examples the Lockerbie bombing, the murdering of our honorable marines in Beirut,USS Cole,Embassies around the world and many killings of our innocent civilians they have all the rights to be where ever they want to go around the world by these extremists, are you stupid like your idol Mr Ron Paul to say these kinds of things true Americans don't appreciate? I think you kids are on some kind of drugs or is it pure ignorant of what the terrorists had been doing all along. You all are sick people.

96. you know the term "truther" is derogatory, yet you use it in your first sentance? So I guess anyone who places the trust in the people and understands logic is a "truther". Funny that Rudy Giuliani doesn't understand foreign policy. The CIA agrees with the good doctor about blowback. Do you know what "blowback" means? Blowback is a term used in espionage to describe the unintended consequences of covert operations. It usually seems without cause, because the public is unaware of the secret operations that provoked it.
Please do your homework before writing another libelous article. The Alex Jones show appearance proves nothing, except for the fact that he is, indeed, NOT a "truther". An appearance on the show doesn't mean he agrees with the views. As a corporation, AOL Time-Warner has to be all over the place, and certainly doesn't agree with everything it produces, but is sure to state that it doesn't decline nor endorse what is shows.
You're not doing your job right by making things up. You can't rake muck on Ron Paul because there isn't any. He's right about blowback, and you, sir, need to take a cold, hard look at your profession, maybe this isn't the right line of work for you. Go join the National Enquirer.
["He believes that a terror attack will be staged to allow the evil Neo-cons of the Bush administration unimpeded access to attack Iran."]
Please site the above statement.
Good Day.

97. And I suppose you people at AOL think the John Birch Society who backs Ron Paul 100% are a bunch of cooks too? Search Google for "America freedom to fascism" and "Fiat empire" and then try writing this ignorant crap.

What possible reason would Bush have for signing so many executive orders of which so many give him more power and less liberty for us?

99. "He believes that a terror attack will be staged to allow the evil Neo-cons of the Bush administration unimpeded access to attack Iran."
"That's not campaigning, that's in the realm of JFK conspiracy theorists and Heavens Gate."
"Maybe I'm naive in that assumption about any government official, but for Ron Paul to even consider this -- let alone say it out loud and on the air--is inconceivable to the average American."
I'd say that you are naive in your assumptions. I might recommend that you read up on your history. Read about Spartacus' "invasion" of Rome and how it lead to the downfall of the Roman Republic. Read about the staged attacks by Hitler's own party on the radio station that lead to the invasion of Poland and the beginning of WWII. Read about the Gulf of Tonkin incident and how it lead to the SAR.
Not only is it not out of the realm of speculation that a government official would create an enemy for political gain, it is entirely probably based on history. Americans have very short attention spans and, as a whole, are not that interested in history outside of what's taught in our public schools.
Before you write a rebuttal to a statement that someone makes, you might want to check your facts. Ron Paul was right on the money about the risks that we face from our own government (it's not just the Bush administration that is doing this). We are facing an unparalled danger. It's the same danger that the Romans and the Germans faced from their own governments. If we don't wake up soon, we're going to follow down the same path.

100. A. Remember the Maine.
B.A brief overview of Congressman Paul's record:
He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war.
He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.
Boom I win if anyone wants to debate their "sure he/she is corrupt but what are you gonna do?" candidate get in touch a Ron Paul supporter and we will help you understand what it means to be an American.
