We've known for quite some time that Ron Paul is a "9/11 Truther" (or at least supported by those who are)--one who believes that 9/11 was done with the knowledge or complicity of the Bush administration. Now he's agreeing that conspiracies that have not yet happened will in fact come to pass:
Speaking to The Alex Jones Show, the Texas Congressman was asked his opinion on Cindy Sheehan's recent comments that the U.S. is in danger of a staged terror attack or a Gulf of Tonkin style provocation that will validate the Neo-Con agenda and lead to the implementation of the infrastructure of martial law that Bush recently signed into law via executive order, as well as public pronouncements from prominent officials that the West needs terrorism to save a doomed foreign policy.
"I think we're in great danger of it," responded the Congressman, "We're in danger in many ways, the attack on our civil liberties here at home, the foreign policy that's in shambles and our obligations overseas and commitment which endangers our troops and our national defense."
He believes that a terror attack will be staged to allow the evil Neo-cons of the Bush administration unimpeded access to attack Iran.
OK, I've had serious issues with Ron Paul's campaign. Besides his hypocrisy on earmarks and other issues, he's pretty much been...well, sane. Now, I'm not quite sure.
Here we have a presidential candidate (sure, one who is polling at 0%) who is saying on the record that he believes the current administration is capable of faking a terror attack, which will kill people, simply to advance their ideology. That's not campaigning, that's in the realm of JFK conspiracy theorists and Heavens Gate.
I was a huge critic of Bill Clinton and his policies -- including his non-action when the embassies and the USS Cole were attacked. I would never, ever, suggest that Clinton was capable of staging an attack to push his policies through. Maybe I'm naive in that assumption about any government official, but for Ron Paul to even consider this -- let alone say it out loud and on the air--is inconceivable to the average American.
Ron Paul's campaign has attracted a large Internet following, one that is boisterous and vocal (watch the comments to this post), but to think that they could defend this is preposterous and downright scary. The thought of the Ron Paul Brigades in tin hats is, of course, amusing though.

People actually think Fred Thompson is more vialbe.....lol wow.
Meanwhile back on earth, Dr. Paul has raised more money than Sen. McCain.

108. I am not a "truther." As a matter of fact I have no idea what happened on 9/11. But what is clear is the fact that our government supplied the bomb materials for the first WTC attack. This is a matter of record. Gulf of Tonkin is matter of record. Operation Northwoods is matter of record. Operation MkULTRA is a matter of record. Iran-Contra is matter of record. Operation COINTELPRO is matter of record. These are all operations against the people of the United States. By the United States government. So history has shown us that there are some folks in OUR government that have ZERO regard for the Constitution and the safety of the citizens of the United States.

110. Hello...you just mentioned in your own article..The Gulf Of Tonkin. Have you not read the articles about how it was a satged false-flag event.?! Are you a serious journalist?! And the 0% in the polls is hogwashand very biased of you, you're just another example of why Corporate Owned Media needs to go the way of the dinosaurs and become extinct. Let me also say that there a such thing as the FOIA (Freedom of Information Act), which has garnered lots of things the Government has lied about or been involved with...even history has shown that government after government has used false, self-inflicted attacks on it's own people as a pretext to attack another country. How sad you are?

I gather the author is unfamiliar with our own history... Iran Contra, Nicaragua, in particular.. is extraordinary well documented. Watch this video and understand that these people in power do not have YOUR interests at heart.

112. Wow Scott... You're already backpedaling, so it's say whatever, and then, qualify it, and then go with the qualifier if anyone calls you on the bullshit part. That's like day one of Fascist Journalism 101 isn't it. You're a tard. Ron Paul is a conservative by the old school and respectable meaning of the word, and the skewed poll results you site, well, we all know those are a load of crap. Ron Paul may not win, but that will be a scandal of electronic voting machines, and false reporting. Because we do not live in a democracy as we're trying to set-up, supposedly, around the world. That you buy into the neo-con agenda, which you clearly do, the smokescreen of the left vs. right, when it's all very clear to anyone with a brain that it doesn't matter... it's pathetic.

113. RP said no more than what is said in the blog. No more.
To belive that "it" refers to somekind of conspiracy, youll have to trust that conspiracy nut Alex Jones.
Hes putting RP together with Cindy Sheehan, maybe he gets payed by Fox News to get them some fake news food. Im sorry Scott jumped the wagon.
BTW, Cindy Sheehan said :
"I definitely think that is a distinct possibility, that there will be some kind of attack whether it's manufactured or real...."
no more.
source: http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles...inctchance.htm
For some reason (smearing) Alex Jones puts this in the RP ariticle, where it becomes:
"[RP to comment].... on Cindy Sheehan's recent comments that the U.S. is in danger of a staged terror attack or a Gulf of Tonkin style provocation that will validate the Neo-Con agenda and lead to the implementation of the infrastructure of martial law that Bush recently signed into law via executive order"
Nuff said.

114. Of "Gut Feelings", Aspirin Factories, "Pocket-Rockets" ...and WMD's!
Yes, I am a supporter of Ron Paul.
I first became aware of this story from the ticker on FOX NEWS.
FOX attributed the story to "THE POLITICO."
SO - I checked "The Politico" ...and found the story linked to the Alex Jones Radio show.
The Question posed to Congressman Paul was "How much danger are we in of some Gulf of Tonkin provocation?"
In response to which, Ron Paul answers "Great Danger."
This agreement that we are in "Great Danger" is NOT an agreement that the U.S. is likely to STAGE an attack (as reported by Politico and FOX...): this is a statement that we are in considerable danger of our government engaging in behavior that will PROVOKE an attack which could (and almost certainly WOULD) then be used to "justify" military objectives they already have in mind.
NO - I am NOT the sort of person who likes to chase rabbits down rabbit holes.
All the same: ...given the fact that the Iraq war was sold to the American public on the premise that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction (weapons which have never materialized): ...given our own HOMELAND SECURITY CHIEF (Michael Chertoff) having predicted another terrorist attack in the not so distant future on the basis of a "gut-feeling":
I cannot help but be amused to find so many people trying to shine the spot light on Ron Paul by misrepresenting the nature of the threat to which he has now said we are in "great danger."
If I may pose a little "Conspiracy Theory" of my own: this all looks like a desperate attempt to take the spot light off of Michael Chertoff's comments.
I haven't seen anything like it since Bill Clinton sent a cruise missile into an aspirin factory to draw attention away from Monica Lewinsky's pre-occupation with Bill's pocket rocket.
In Liberty!,

115. What does it say about a guy who compares JFK theories with Heavens gate? Scott, moron, you do know that the House Committee on Assassinations ADMITS that Oswald didnt act alone right? You knew that right?!?!?!? What a tool Scott, what a tool you are.......(I see you've already been called out for lying about Paul's views so i'll let that go. How did you get your job anyway? Such low journalistic standards?)

116. Of course AOL will have opinionated articles that shape the way the reader will look at issues before they have fully studied them. AOL's logo is an all seeing eye in side a pyramid. AOL is part of Big Brother, in that AOL gathers information on EVERYTHING you do online. Soon, super computers will come online that can compute data faster than EVERY HUMAN MIND ON EARTH...COMBINED. It's public information. Go find it. Soon after that, a chip will be planted into a "national ID" card or REAL ID. It's already been placed in THE HAND and FOREHEAD of some ignorant people. This chip will hold DNA, fingerprints, MONEY, medical history, and will be able to be accessed by the quickly growing "WI-FI" hot spots through out the world. You will be tracked like you are on house arrest. You will be monitored by camera's like the movie 1984. Wake up Sheeple...wake up.

118. Snotty is 100% correct. 9/11 would be the Exception to the rule.
Brandon at 11:08AM on Jul 14th 2007
119. You expose this as a hit piece and lose any credibility in the first sentence. "We've known for some time that Ron Paul is a "9/11 Truther" (or at least supported by those who are)..." Your naked attempt to discredit Congressman Paul by equating his beliefs to those of a tiny fraction of his supporters is beyond pathetic. In case you forgot, Ron Paul had that bit of controversy over saying, "They don't attack us because we're rich and free, they attack us because we're over there." Note the "They attack us" bit. As opposed to "we attacked ourselves."
His agreement with Cindy Sheehan's comments are based on the fact that our government has done this before (google Gulf of Tonkin), and have planned to do it before (google CIA Family Jewels or Operation Northwoods). The Gulf of Tonkin and Operation Northwoods aren't crazy conspiracy theories. They are historical fact, recorded and declassified by our own intelligence community.
Instead of slamming the only candidate honest enough to point these things out, why don't you do some research. You may just realize he's right.

120. For any of you that do not believe that the Bush administration is willing to stage and attack, or let an attack happen I would refer you to "The Project For The New American Century," which was devised by Dick Cheney and other top officials. I would also ask you to read about Operation Northwoods, in which all of the joint cheifs of staff under the Kennedy administration agreed to stage terror attacks in order to gain civilian support to invade Cuba.
