No announcement yet, but things are very fluid at Fred Thompson HQ:
Republican presidential hopeful Fred Thompson is replacing his acting campaign manager with former senator and energy secretary Spencer Abraham and Florida GOP strategist Randy Enright.
Thompson spokeswoman Linda Rozett said acting campaign manager Tom Collamore, former vice president of food and tobacco giant Altria, still will advise the campaign. Collamore has helped organize the campaign for Thompson, who has not officially jumped into the race.
I don't get good vibes from Spence Abraham, who should have kept his Michigan Senate seat in 2000. But I'm guessing that he is going to be a key ally when the Primary rolls around to the state of Michigan.
Enright has served as Executive Director of the Republican Party of Florida and was a key player in the 2000 Florida battle. Both moves can be seen as organization building in key states. Thompson is serious and he's in to win.

3. Fred Thompson worked the U.S. Congress membership as a lobbyist for passage of the Savings and Loan deregulation legislation desired by the Tennessee Savings and Loan League. Federal deregulation legislation allowing for additional government support of ailing S&Ls; giving U.S. thrifts the freedom to invest in potentially more profitable, but riskier, ventures; and eliminating interest-rate ceilings on new accounts to increase S&Ls'competitiveness.
Enacted into law in September 1982, the Garn - St Germain Depository Institutions Act of 1982, is widely credited with having laid the groundwork for the U.S.Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s."
This cost US taxpayer two trillon dollars.
During his Senate tenure, Thompson's work habits were suspect. The New York Times recently (gently) noted that "he was not known as one of the hardest working senators". The very fact that he left the Senate after only eight years in office raised suspicions that he was distracted by the allure of Hollywood and the joys of private life.

4. Mr. Thompson: I do hope you decide to run. Right now neither party has anybody except Tancredo, that is worth a hoot.
I am looking for someone that will have the political will to take the 'for sale' sign down. Let the world know we are not for sale. Prime example: Mexico. We need someone who will enforce our immigration laws and not pander to a corrput government in Mexico.

8. I am so glad to find a thoughtful and strategic candidate that doesn't have to apologize for not being black or a woman! Yes, there are some well qualified beginners out there, but with some help from experts on what works, both in the political world and in Industry and Energy (Renewables), I believe you will have a Great presidency, and not just pass GO! on some monopoly board, which seems like Obama and Clinton are doing. We are striving for a future, a goal attainable and reachable, to have safe borders, opportunity for others, and to shine in what we do best, create new dreams and build new avenues to get there, with Solar Energy, Space advances, God's guidance and assistance in finding what we seek, you will make a positive difference where Bush failed to achieve that positive difference. Lots of distractors and problems are out there, but also lots of hope for Iraq, our nation and the world. You go sort-of-white

14. Fred:
Please lead us in a realist direction - You can get the country to tell Congress where to go with your leadership. You can get the country to immediately
jump on the New Technology Band wagon. You can get
the country on a solid footing for Homeland Security.
You can close the borders; limit immigration; keep taxes low; pay-off our national debt; increase healthcare funding; tell lobbyist to keep out of
Washington; you can increase employment across the
board; you can make sure our vets are cared for;
you can keep the GREED out of government; YOU CAN MAKE IT ALL HAPPEN, BECAUSE THE NATION NEEDS YOU
FOR THE NEXT 8 YEARS.
