These are some of the same folks who tore Sen.Clinton up for years when she was first lady. All of a sudden, she's great? And right wing talk show hosts are already saying she's the nominee for sure and begun the anti-Hillary campaign. Seems they always know things I don't know (or maybe they just Make Stuff Up?). After years of tearing her down they're suddenly building her up and expressing genuine admiration? Or maybe it's all a ploy because Karl Rove sees Hillary as the weakest candidate in the general election. The thing is I think Rove is right. I don't think she can win the general. I'll predict something: All of the right wing commentators will do a 180 if Clinton is nominated and go back to their assigned negative roles.• Fred Barnes of The Weekly Standard, a neoconservative weekly, wrote that she answered the now-famous "would-you-meet-with-despots" question "firmly and coolly."
• Rich Lowry of National Review, a conservative weekly, gushed: "She excels. ... Clinton has run a nearly flawless campaign and has done more than any other Democrat to show she's ready to be president."
• David Brooks, conservative columnist at The New York Times, wrote that Clinton "seems to offer the perfect combination of experience and change" and is changing perceptions in a way that may persuade voters to give her a second look.
• Charles Krauthammer, conservative columnist at The Washington Post, summed up the Clinton-Obama smackdown: "The grizzled veteran showed up the clueless rookie."

Republicans Seem to Want Hillary
There's a piece in a McClatchy newspaper that wonders why (all of a sudden) the right wing punditry is falling over itself praising Sen. Hillary Clinton:

1. Hillary Clinton is the candidate Republicans fear most because she will be equal to there tricks. They would rather prefer Obama because they can play race card, take it or leave it. The Republicans knows she is going to win, and whenever you see her, you are just seeing your next president. That is all, pure and simple.

2. I take these things as just a political analysis. Conservative or Liberal it is clear to see Clinton was the better person on that issue and is the best choice for president.

5. She wear the nametag but lack leadership experience especially and I mean especially leading a superpower nation.A Senator is only a constituent representative.Given the situation the country is in right now with challenges from all four corners of the nations domestic issues as well as foreign challenges it is very premature for her to be in the top job in the country.A candidate with real leadership capabilities and managerial experiences can better serve the country in balancing the budget and controll Congress spending spree. The country need a WATCHMAN on the TOWER given the condition of our economy at this stage, not mom on a shopping spree.

7. The name of the game is "Divide and Conquer". The Democrats have won every election since Clinton, but we keep defeating ourselves. There's a split represented in the DLC. The Clinton loyalists are "Republican-Lite" and they believe their effort returned Democrats to power. The Clinton loyalists are represented by Joe Lieberman, Rahm, Terry, and "Billary". They are using the anger of women to divide. The next group is led by Blacks. We are tired of being ignored and treated worse than Monica in the White House. Blacks saved "Bill" on impeachment and many thought he was for us. Blacks put Clinton on notice and ran a candidate. Blacks don't want to be shut out from the debate. The rest follow the established power of the Democratic Party. This is the Howard Dean, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi group. We are antiwar and it was our efforts that have led to real change in America. Our backbone provided the opposition to Bush's hard right assault on the Constitution and our freedoms. Without the far Left mob, Bush would be King. Republicans and Republican-Lites have formed an alliance that crosses party lines and just switches places. Their agenda is the same. Obama has seen there is no difference offered by those to his right. Hillary is giving Democrats "Lip Service". She could actually be hostile to Blacks? Obama has picked up a "Pitchfork" to lead the mob to his Left, but he can't win in America as a Black and antiwar candidate. Obama can join us and be respected. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr could win this election or his spirit and legacy can. Is there anyone out there with the credentials of Dr. King? Has anyone done the work in the shadows? Maybe John Edwards has a card up his sleeve? By the grace of God, one person can make a difference.

8. Hillary is for socialism, she knows nothing about world affairs, she can be a slick liar when the occasion arrises but for her is is natural in any case.. the Clinton's have berger in their background, if she is president bet he gats a job, Clinton's knew about 9/11 and I think Berger took the fall to come back later. the terroists want Hillary in office, they can get by her. She voted for war and when it's not popular she blames Bush, that's all this piece of humanity such as she is has to offer. What do you think will happen to all illegals in this country, she will make them legal, why do you think she is after hispanic vote. You have yet to see the wrath of this evil womans spewing wrath. Hillary is for Hillary, god only knows the promises she's made. She couldn't answer the normal person on the street questions, everyone would see through her, but you can see that on tv, facial, eye, and body lanuage tell how evil this woman is, all the while laughing behind her back of who she put one over on today. Seld serving like pelosi and NOT capable of the job.

9. As an woman and an Iowan.... I see that the future holds many changes. One needn't judge the current administration to find answers to our woes via either party. The outcome of the next election will indeed set the stage for the very survival of the United States. The democrats feel secure having won big in the last election; but it isn't that easy. Most of the American public are prone to suprise both parties with the up coming events. The people of Iowa and any other state for that matter, the popularity in Hillary is summed up in Bill. A great majority of those backing her truly feel they are getting another 4 to 8 years of Bill. After a few speaches by Hillary.... as we in Iowa can tell you; she leaves nothing to be desired. We know of her foul "sailor's tongue" and many have heard it first hand. She has more of an up"HILL" battle than she or anyone else truly comprehends.... Her only saving grace will be to rank well in the primary elections and her taming of the tongue. With an objective point of view....we haven't even gotten to the point of a choice between mud and feces, from either party..... it's really quite a terrible time for this country. We are still a relative young nation and the more this generation takes it all for granted it will begin to diminish our hope for a strong future..... remember that a divided people WILL NOT STAND! These United States are not the super power we once were. Peace at any price; means you give the terrorists what they want; translations you just might be eaten last. One more thought; the USA with a woman in charge, will give a poor impression upon those nations last few women as objects to own and already think of the USA as the infidels. It will help their agenda however; because the possiblity of a very weak foreign policy exsists....with a female in charge, or so they may feel, and also many Americans.

11. no senator has won a presidential election since JFK....that's 47 years.....must mean something!
Governors are definitely more qualified.....they run all aspects of their "little country"(aka State).
Too bad Bloomberg is not better known.....he would straighten up this country for sure....and being independent, he doesn't need to answer to either side.
We really need a 3rd party....."The Centrist party", no more far right or far left

12. It's very sad that so many Americans are so ignorant about politics....PEOPLE WAKE UP!!! Hillary Clinton is NOT Bill Clinton!! She has no more experience at being POTUS than Obama. 14. They've never defeated a Clinton, and though they are going to get the chance to try again, they never will.

15. Most of these posts reflect emotion or simply lack of factual content. Yes Hillary carries with her the promise of 8 more years of Bill-like governance. She is smart and tough and pragmatic. She will not be swift-boated as Obama would. He might be a good pick in the future, but he needs substantially more experience as his comments the last three weeks have shown. There will be much to correct from these past eight years, and she and her advisors..and Bill's...are best suited to the task. We can NOT nominate someone like Gore or Kerry who ran weak defensive campaigns. Politics is a business. Hillary understands this, and I have always viewed her positioning on issues as a strength rather than a weakness. She modifies for the contest ahead, never abandoning core values. Remember, perfection is the enemy of the good!
