When you're right, you're right. And when it comes to the subject of Iraq, the only candidate to be able to brag on that score at yesterday's GOP debate in Iowa was Ron Paul. What a breath of fresh air the man is. To the party establishment, however, Paul carries a foul, heretical odor. I'm sure they wish he'd just go away. Here's a recap of all the Paul highlights.
Note to the other Republican candidates: even your own base is now splintered on the question of the war. Sticking by the president is a losing issue. You'd be wise to listen to Ron Paul, at least insofar as the war is concerned.

17. Ron Paul is the only conservative choice amoung liberals like McCain, Giuliani and Romney.
Ron Paul is right on Iraq unless your a fool who can't tell the difference between Osama and saddam.

18. Isn't it funny that senior Republican senators/congressmen are now questioning the whole plan in Iraq? Senator Lugar was one of the biggest names to come out and say so even before the September report. Hopefully that sends a message to the Republican base that they need a candidate who has been unwavering this whole time. Ron Paul is that man.

19. For all you Democrats out there - C'mon can't you see the pathetic attempt by all of them that supported the war, and now Obama would invade Pakistan - talk about nuts. The only candidate out there that has been against the war before it started was Ron Paul. Really its not about electing someone that is for this or that, don't we need to elect someone that is honest and has integrity for a change. No one is perfect, but someone you can trust is priceless.

21. Isn't it rather repugnant, that those who espouse the righteous indignation of the church over the killing of innocents (aborted ones) are all gung- ho for the killing of other fully functional soul lives, such as the ones in Iraq? What's PRO-LIFE about promoting a senseless war? Over 500,000 Iraqis have died for BushCo. "Hallelujah!?"
Karen at 3:12AM on Aug 7th 2007
22. 70% of Americans want us out of Iraq! What is wrong with my Grand Ole Party? Are they IDIOTS! Of course we remember 911 Romney and did you know that the some religions to 98% of Americans is considered mythology?
Just come home!...and put them on "OUR BORDERS" but that would defeat the purpose of large government spending on an endless war and the North American Union.
Just come home!!

23. Ron Paul is NOT a Conservative, he's a Libertarian. It's amazing how many people say they were once Dems and now like Paul.
As for you, Mike, is that the best you've got, scrub? Your boy is polling at less than 1% and it hasn't improved despite all you LaRouchians who have nothing better to do than Google his name every ten seconds in hopes that you can find anything written about him. Nice life, loser.

24. "Adam Gadahn's latest taped threats to attack Americans reveals the war on terror is not "just a bumper sticker slogan"; remember that one?"
The United States military budget is one that is capable of bringing down any nation on the planet that we may see fit to bring down.
If Adam Gadahn possesses comparable means, then we just might be in a little trouble.

25. Ron Paul is the only "sane" person in Congress.

26. I don't understand why everyone can't see that there is something is terribly wrong with our government. We're spending millions of dollars building road, bridges and embassies in Iraq and other foreign countries while at the same time, the infrastructure in our own country is falling apart, our country is bankrupt, our helpless citizens can't get healthcare, American soldier are dying, and for what? Democracy in Iraq may be a lofty goal, but it should be the goal of the Iraqi people, not our Government. We have no business trying to force our culture on any other nation; they have the right to self-determination just as we do. The only beneficiaries of this war will be the contractors, banks, and other corporate entities that will make billions of dollars (like they really need more) rebuilding a nation we destroyed. American soldiers have died to make an Arab nation safe for plundering. There are many advisors in the current administration and on the staffs of the current presidential candidates, democratic and republican, pushing for the war in Iraq to be expanded to Iran. All you out there who believe this is a just war, be forewarned, the blood of your children will be on your hands if you allow this to continue.

27. It's unfortunate that Ron Paul -- formerly the head of ARCO -- remains beholden to Big Oil. And, it's unfortunate that he is hypocritical, in that he condemns the use of government force through laws in order to control human behavior; yet, he supports capital punishment, the ultimate use of government force on a citizen.
But those are, in our modern political society, very, very minor transgressions, indeed. Ron Paul at least answers questions, takes real positions, and appears to genuinely believe in what he says. It remains to be seen how he wold reconcile his condemnation of foreign entanglements with his pro-business, Big Oil-coddling Libertarian (with a big "L") philosophy.
Still, that also is nothing new: Al Gore, the "anti-global warming star" and "liberal Democrat," owns $300,000 in Occidental Petroleum stock, Oxy being perhaps the world's worst corporate perpetrator of Amazon basin forest deforestation.
What we need in this country, is a "Green Libertarian Social Democratic Labor Party." But until that day comes, I say "Go Ron Paul!" If he were to succeed in fracturing the G.O.P and wrenching its control from the Neo-Con Dr. Strangeloves, he will have done his country a glorious public service. Then we can hope and pray that a Ron Paul clone from the social democratic point of view will rise to similarly cleanse the Democratic Party. Then, at last, the people will have real choices and our nation will have representatives who engage in genuine, civil, practical debates and who arrive at meaningful compromises concerning the important issues of our time.

28. Regarding Kevin's comment #27: Ron Paul is against capital punishment. I can't find a connection between him and ARCO. He is, of course, against government meddling in business, but I don't think he is beholden to anyone. And yes--Go Ron Paul!

29. All you good little Americans keep doing what you do best... Go to work and Pay your un- constitutional taxes so the politicians can have their fun with your money and support their big business friends. Most of you dont understand the first thing about our monetary system and how were being ripped off badly by our so-called LEADERS and their Federal Reserve cohorts.. All one needs to do is look at the voting records of the men and women running in '08 or look at the Bills they have sponsored. Our founding fathers were very smart men who wanted out from under tyranny, they devised a system of government for YOU and ME the people.
