Colorado Rep. Tom Tancredo's campaign stood by his assertion that bombing holy Muslim sites would serve as a good "deterrent" to prevent Islamic fundamentalists from attacking the United States, his spokeswoman said Friday. "This shows that we mean business," said Bay Buchanan, a senior Tancredo adviser.
How insane is that? Let's start WW3 off with a bang, shall we? Let's just go nuclear on them, that will show them. I mentioned this item to a few people at the office and the reaction was uniform along the lines of rolling eyes and 'You've got to be kidding.' Most Americans realize we live in a real world, not some imaginary place where we can bomb away and solve problems. A bit more on the flip.
We have generals by the dozen who are categoricaly stating the military cannot win in Iraq. It's been so badly planned (see Rumsfeld and Cheney), that our military trains Iraqi forces who then tip off the militias and in some cases turn directly against our soldiers all while their so-called government falls apart and goes on vacation. I could go on for pages, but the solution is not to send more Americans over the cliff for a war that has gone on longer than our involvement in WW2. The Iraq War is the wrong way. It's a dead end and it's painful. Every death, maiming, scarring screams enough already. It's a Republican led war and we have to get out safely and as fast as possible. It won't be as easy as getting in but it must happen. The Democratic field wants out, Republicans will stay in forever or until they start the last war. Let's not.

1. How is Paul not a republican? He is for small, limited government which has been how people and the party have defined themselves for the past 50 years. If anything it is the other candidates running for president that are no longer republicans.

2. You state "The entire Republican field continues to support George Bush's war." That is not true: Ron Paul has never and does not to this day support George Bush's war - VOTE RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT!!!

3. It is patently absurd to say that Ron Paul is not a Republican. He is a paleo-conservative if you will, not a neo-con asshat like the rest of the GOP chumps.
Dr. Paul is the only man that abides by true conservative values, get a clue man.

4. This is definitely a case where, if one believes there is a God, its time to ask him for help.

5. Just for the record, WW3 is underway. It started with 911. They're winning because we are too dumb to realize it. Muslims have invaded Europe and now demand strick Islamic law. Next, they'll be murdering those who don't comply. Illegals invade our country and we pay them under the guise of a so called "labor shortage." Try to kick them out and watch all the hell break loose just for enforcing our laws, protecting our autonomy, and heritage.

6. Just for the record, if the Islamist had the bomb they would surely have dropped it on us without a second thought. No, pondering the loss of human life or anything else. These people's culture is a culture of death. We've talked long enough and gotten nowhere. Maybe we should patronize their culture by making them martyrs as they like.

7. Tom Tancredo's not going to be President, so he's free to splash the canvas with Michael Savage-like rhetorical big strokes.
Maybe this is his "insensitive" way of saying that he loves his country and does not intend to let America go the way of Kitty Genovese, while the Muslim world pretends it didn't hear anything.

8. In defense of Congressman Tancredo. He first made the statement about bombing Mecca, et.el, more than two years ago "IF there is another attack on the Homeland and it is proven Islam is behind it". He called it a THREAT, to deter such an attack. I call it a WARNING. No one else has any idea how to deter another attack, they are willing to just wait for it to happen and then decide on a response.
Tom Tancredo voted against the latest troop surge and says we should "pull back" and force Iraq to take more responsibility in their country. He has also said "Our troops can win this war, but the rules of engagement have one arm tied behind their back. When I am your President, there will only be one rule of engagement: WE WIN, YOU LOSE!"
GO, TOM!

9. I personally would not have any problem is the entire Middle East was turned to glass - that said - whoever said Mecca was not a valid target!
