Or slander and libel, for that matter. Since 2004, Sen.
John Kerry and Clintonista/Soros outfits like
Media Matters have claimed that the charges put forth by the
Swift Vets and POWs for Truth are lies. Legally they described the charges, particularly those made in
Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry by SwiftVets founder John E. O'Neill and Dr. Jerome R. Corsi, as slanderous and libelous. Attorney Bill Dyer of
BeldarBlog helpfully
reminded Senator Kerry in 2005 of his possible recourse against the authors, since undoubtedly their lies caused his defeat in 2004:
I'm quite sure you'll recall that many of your supporters, defenders, and admirers argued enthusiastically that fall, and even after the election, that you ought to sue Mr. O'Neill, Dr. Corsi, and their publisher, Regnery Publishing, Inc., for defamation - more specifically, for libel based on the book and slander based on their public comments in connection with it.
Fast forward to today, and even Massachusetts' liberal statute of limitations for defamation lawsuits has expired (a few days ago, on August 25). Yet no action from Senator Kerry, who still publicly claims that O'Neill's stated facts are "lies." Perhaps Kerry has forgotten about 2004 (unlikely), or he doesn't have the funds to file a lawsuit (even more unlikely). Luckily, the senator has friends out their like Dyer, who has offered to underwrite Kerry's effort to clear his good name, by helping Kerry sue Dyer himself for defamation, due to the fact that Dyer has republished much of O'Neill's book on his Web site:
But as I noted then, Sen. Kerry's home state of Massachusetts has a very unusual, extremely generous and pro-plaintiff three-year limitations period for defamation claims. Massachusetts' three-year statute of limitations for defamation claims made it the very last feasible venue in which Sen. Kerry conceivably could file suit and gain his public vindication, if the SwiftVets' allegations about him were false. Those claims were certainly, indeed deliberately, injurious to his reputation; his damages arguably include the loss of the 2004 presidential election, however that might be valued in dollars and cents; and if John Kerry could hope to find a home-town advantage anywhere, surely it would be there. But now he's let the incredibly generous Massachusetts statute of limitations run out, too.
...You have a standing offer from me: Just sue me here in Houston for defamation. After all, I've republished most of the SwiftVets' claims here on my blog, and I've made many of them again in my own voice. I use a pseudonym for my blog name, but it's not anonymous - my name and address are linked on every page of this blog, and have been since the day it started. I'll waive any statute of limitations defense. I'll waive service of process. Hell, I'll meet you at the federal courthouse doors for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division (you have diversity jurisdiction), and I'll even pay your filing fee!
That's a generous offer. I hope that Senator Kerry takes it up to
finally clear his name. I can't wait for legal discovery.

2. The Republican Swift Boaters are liars-period. O'Neil was a lapdog for Nixon and has made a career out of defaming Senator Kerry- simply because he took another point of view regarding Vietnam. That O'Neil has had to continue to revisit Kerry's position over and over again in the form of attacks seems to indicate O'Neil may have a mental issue he needs to address. Corisi is just a kook. The remander of the Swifters-except for one- who accused Senator Kerry of all sorts of things never served with him, even though they claimed they did- only one in the group actually did, and he is certainly entitled to his opinion. Only, no other crew members who served with Senator Kerry share this man's opinion- the others in Kerry's crew- thought very highly of Senator Kerry and still do.
As for the bullsh*t over his medals- even Republican Senator Warner has publicly acknowledged that Kerry earned his medals- Warner, an officer at the time, reviewed and apporoved some of those very medals.
Face it, the Swift Boaters are slim and liars. I can see a good reason for Senator Kerry not to pursue charges against them- why give them any more attention- they aren't deserving of any at all. Justice will be done one day when they meet their maker. They won't be able to lie to him.

3. Well what good would come from it if he were to sue them now? What would he have to gain? I for one think those Swift Boat ads were not only done in bad judgement but also demoralizing for our troops.
