When Howard Dean was named the leader of the DNC, I wrote he was a blogger's dream and would give me material for months. I was right. But old Howard has been surpassed by the man who single-handedly gives more material than anyone could have ever dreamed. John Edwards is the blogger gift that never stops giving.
Our latest installment in the Edwards hypocrisy watch is about John's wish for Americans to give up SUV's for the good of the planet:
Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards told a labor group that he would ask Americans to make a big sacrifice: their sport utility vehicles.
The former North Carolina senator was asked specifically if he would tell them to give up their SUVs, he said, "Yes."
OK John, why don't you be the first. Judging from the picture of your mansion, SUVs are something you seem to like.
To all you environmental do-gooders; please don't preach to me about my "carbon footprint" or my driving an SUV. Also, don't tell me that Edwards buys "carbon credits" or some derivative because it really makes you sound incredibly silly and the entire country knows that they are a scam.
Still, should pigs fly and Edwards find himself in the Oval Office, he will probably push for institution of the Kyoto Protocols and judging by the effect it's had on other countries, that wouldn't be so funny.

1. Right on! John Edwards is a big hypocrite preaching to the country things he wouldn't do himself. This is classic of the Liberal Party these days. We have Al Gore the big Global Warming Activist who has his own huge private jet that he uses all the time as we have Nancy Pelosi wanting her own as well.
Wake up people and see the majority of the Liberals as the hypocrites they are!

2. The headline should have the apostrophe after the "s" in "Edwards."

3. Wow. The desperation of the wingnuts as they face defeat in 2008 is rapidly approaching that of the Fuhrerbunker in 1945 as the Allies drew ever nearer...
Here the "proof" of John Edwards' hypocrisy is an undated photo showing what appear to be some SUVs. Are they? Who knows? If so, are they Edwards' SUVs? Who knows. If so, how old are they? Who knows? Certainly not "Scott." But that does not prevent him from having an opinion. Who needs the facts when you have an GOP inbox where your brain ought to be?
A few more interesting aspects of the above hysteria. "Carbon offsets" (what Scott really means here is "emissions trading," as carbon offsets can also mean planting trees -- but again, why should Scott do any thinking when Karl Rove already does that for him?) were invented as a market-driven alternative to government regulation of the environment, and were thus quite welcomed by conservatives when they were first proposed (which is why wingnut saint Rupert Murdoch has gazillions of offsets to his credit). Now, all of a sudden "the entire country" knows they are scams -- if by "entire country" you mean Scott's end of the locked ward. What happened? Simple. Word got out that Al Gore has taken advantage of this program -- and in wingnutland, if a liberal does something it is by definition a bad thing.
And finally, if Scott is truly lauhghing at Howard Dean, then Scott is even more ignorant than the above post would indicate (which I suppose is entirely possible). Under Dean, the Democrats took back Congress, largely because Dean's 50 state strategy gave them seats in states no one expected them to win, like Virginia and Montana. Trust me, Scott, no matter how much Dean makes you smile, Democrats are smiling a lot more. And when we take the White House and increase our margins in Congress next year, I imagine your laughing will take on such an edge of hysteria, your keepers will double your thorazine.

4. As a Democrat, I will admit DEM candidates are hypocrites on the environment. You cannot preach about how bad SUV's are on the environment, then drive one.
Kinda like how conservatives like to preach they are all about family values and then go proposition men for sex in public bathrooms.
Both sides have hypocrites galore!!

5. Scott, you sound like another Swift Boat Captain spewing trash. Edwards has ONE big new house he worked many decades for and built for his family and it has nothing to do with energy consumption of SUVs. If you research most of these candidates have more than one big house with a few having 3 to 5 houses.
Edwards is the only candidate that has unveiled any type of workable energy, economic, education, and healthcare plans. He is an envisionary, hardworking, honorable man of the highest integrity that not only has the vision but the committment and dedication to make America great for ALL Americans. He believes we can have a strong global economy without resourcing our jobs to third world foreign countries. He is the most capable of all candidates with the most sincereity about improving this great country,
and certainly not another "doing a heck of a good job Brownie".

6. Wrong, bozo brain. John Edwards is NOT the hypocrite. The real hypocrite is Hillary Clinton who is turning her two faced campaign into a rat race for the White House. John Edwards is a respectable, decent human being who would never make himself a laughing stock of his party's endorsement.

7. demos worry more about money then they do about the state of the union. remember the saying... these colors don't run...They sure in the hell will if a demo. gets in.,just like clinton did in 91.

8. I am truly intrigued by the unhinged babbling of certifiable right-wing loon "nolan" above, specifically this rant: "remember the saying... these colors don't run...They sure in the hell will if a demo. gets in.,just like clinton did in 91."
Bill Clinton of course did not become President until January of 1993. I therefore ask, in all sincerity, what the hell is Nolan frothing about? Anyone have any guesses?
