Drudge is reporting that President Bush has gone on the record stating that he believes Hillary Clinton will win the Democratic presidential nomination, but she will lose the general election to a Republican challenger. This comes from an excerpt in the forthcoming book The Evangelical President by Bill Sammon, in which Bush states: "She's got a national presence and this is becoming a national primary...And therefore the person with the national presence, who has got the ability to raise enough money to sustain an effort in a multiplicity of sites, has got a good chance to be nominated."
While it seems a certain that Clinton will win the nomination, the certainty that she would lose is, well, not so certain at this stage of the game. The comments by Bush that a Republican will win the White House are not necessarily echoed by those close to the president. Former adviser Karl Rove feels the race will be too close to call and this sentiment is basically repeated on the record by Vice President Dick Cheney in the following comment: "[The election] could go either way."

1. I agree that Hilliary will win the Democatic nominee for president, but that Guilliano will beat her out as president. She might be a smart woman, but we need a man as president. And Guilliano would be my pick. Hillary is talking to much about the Health Care for all Americans, when the war or any future war is more important. She will lose in the end.

3. It is disheartening when I see comments like those of Eleanor Peters stating that we need a man as president. Women have been repressed since the beginning of time, and the 20th and 21st centuries have seen women begin to spread their wings...realizing that they are capable of doing anything a man can do. How interesting that the greatest country in the world has never had a woman head of state, while other countries have. Look at Margaret Thatcher, Eva Peron, Corazon Aquino, Benazir Bhutto, etc. Unfortunately, many women in the U.S.A. aren't raised believing that they can. Their husbands determine their decisions, when it should be a mutual agreement. I'm not necessarily supporting Hilary...some things bother me about her as a politician. But you can bet, I won't be voting for or against her because she's a woman. If you see this, Eleanor, I hope someday you will become an empowered individual and know that men and women can share an equal stage.

4. It is hopeful that we, as human beings, have advanced past the "we need a man" stage in history. We, as a people, need an educated, caring, and dedicated person that is willing to take responsibilty for her/his actions. We the people need someone to clean up the national discord spread by past people of power. It is time for us to choose wisely, not based on gender, but on the personal and professional achievements of the person in question. I will not vote for a man or a woman candidate. I will vote for the person I feel will get the job done. I urge other thinking people to do the same.

7. The real support for Hillary is small. Not because she is a woman, actually, but because she is a Republican in sheep's clothing. Does anyone realize that in the early 70's she worked as a legal council for George Herbert Walker Bush? Sure, she's got all the proper ratings from all the proper groups, but she voted for the war, and has all off the proper friends in the moneyed community. And, most importantly, the average person just doesn't get a good vibe off of her.
Gulliani is not a solid competitor either, from his many facist comments, to his lack of religion, and his dastardly treatment of his own family, the average person also knows that he is untrustworthy.
So, what's the plan, Stan?
Bloomberg/Hagel, or Hagel/Bloomberg will pop out at the last moment and everyone will sigh in relief and vote for their "Independent" ticket.
Why? Because the Illumintai know you better than you do. That's why!

8. WHY IN THE HELL IS ANYONE EVEN SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING THIS WOMEN FOR THE PRESIDENCY? WHAT IS HER EXPERIENCE I KEEP HEARING SO MUCH ABOUT? BECAUSE SHE WAS MARRIED TO A GOVENOR OR A PRESIDENT DOESNT GIVE HER EXPERIENCE. LOTS OF WOMEN HAVE MARRIED POLITICIANS BUT THAT DOESNT GIVE THEM EXPERIENCE. SHOULD LEE I'S WIFE BE ABLE TO RUN CRYSLER BECAUSE SHE WAS MARRIED TO HIM? GIVE ME A BREAK. PERSONALLY I WANT A NEW NAME BESIDES BUSH OR CLINTON IN THE WHITE HOUSE, THERE ARE MORE, AND BETTER, CHOICES OUT THERE! REALLY, CAN SOMEONE LIST 5 THINGS THIS WOMEN HAS DONE TO COMPLETION THAT HAS MADE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR NATION? WHAT LEGISLATION HAS SHE WRITTEN? WHAT GOOD BILL HAS SHE BEEN A PART OF THAT PASSED THAT MADE A DIFFERENCE? THE WAY I SEE IT SHES NO MORE QUALIFIED THAN OBAMA, SHE CERTAINLY HASNT SERVED MUCH LONGER IN THE SENATE...SHES A LOOSER AND HER RECORD PROVES IT.

9. THE ONLY WAY HILARY WILL WIN NOMINATION IS IF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY VOTES FOR HER, THEN BACKS THIER ACTUAL CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENCY! I HAVE NEVER THOUGHT OF HER AS PRESIDENTIAL MATERIAL.

10. the 2008 pres. election will be a combat war between 2 new yorkers ( although one has been labeled carpet bagger from chicago) Make a choice between Hillary and Rudy. I predict Rudy will win.

11. Hillary is the Bob Dole of 2008: strongly supported by her party loyalits and the liberal elite special interests (NAACP excepted, but that will change as Obama continues to reveal his incompetence), not to mention her huge campaign chest garnished, as we know now, by contributions from every sleezy corporate interest possible.
However, even within her party many question her electablity because something very close to a majority of Americans just do not like her personally. Add to this, the vast group of voters who would as soon elect Bin Laudin as put "BJ" in a postion of power ever again. Add to that, the very real resistance to putting a woman in the White House, especially one with a legally questionable past who has ridden on the coattails of her sexual predator husband, whom she has enabled in his banality and simple lack of basic decency. For all the noise, rhetoric, and the liberal elite media's schewing of the facts and the polls, the average American voter wants to win this war, wants to be secure, wants our borders sealed, and does not want huge tax increases or the kind of sophmoric amateur improvisational government (with the worse ethical record since Warren Harding) that we endured between 1993 and 2001. If the Republicans nominate anyone even vaguely near the center like Rudy, they have an excellent change to win, which would be a wonderful affirmation that the country has at last left the insanity of the 60s "do your own thing man" generation behind. We just need to keep on with the excellent start that George W. Bush has made.

* According to our best information, 40 government officials were indicted or convicted in the wake of Watergate. A reader computes that there was a total of 31 Reagan era convictions, including 14 because of Iran-Contra and 16 in the Department of Housing & Urban Development scandal. 47 individuals and businesses associated with the Clinton machine were convicted of or pleaded guilty to crimes with 33 of these occurring during the Clinton administration itself. There were in addition 61 indictments or misdemeanor charges. 14 persons were imprisoned. A key difference between the Clinton story and earlier ones was the number of criminals with whom he was associated before entering the White House.
Using a far looser standard that included resignations, David R. Simon and D. Stanley Eitzen in Elite Deviance, say that 138 appointees of the Reagan administration either resigned under an ethical cloud or were criminally indicted. Curiously Haynes Johnson uses the same figure but with a different standard in "Sleep-Walking Through History: America in the Reagan Years: "By the end of his term, 138 administration officials had been convicted, had been indicted, or had been the subject of official investigations for official misconduct and/or criminal violations. In terms of number of officials involved, the record of his administration was the worst ever."

- Acquitted or overturned cases (including Espy): 6
- Fines and penalties assessed: $11.5 million
- Amount Tyson Food paid in fines and court costs: $6 million
CAMPAIGN FINANCE INVESTIGATION
- As of June 2000, the Justice Department listed 25 people indicted and 19 convicted because of the 1996 Clinton-Gore fundraising scandals.
- According to the House Committee on Government Reform in September 2000, 79 House and Senate witnesses asserted the Fifth Amendment in the course of investigations into Gore's last fundraising campaign.
-James Riady entered a plea agreement to pay an $8.5 million fine for campaign finance crimes. This was a record under campaign finance laws.
