Of course this seriously smacks of all the polls on negative political ads. The ones where folks are asked how much they hate negative ads, and they say "A lot!". But they listen to them and vote according to negative ads anyway.A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 58% disapproved. Those figures include 12% who Strongly Approve and 42% who Strongly Disapprove.Self-identified liberals were evenly divided-45% approve and 39% disapprove. However, only 19% of moderate voters approve while 62% disapprove.
Forty-seven percent (47%) of all adults say that "stunts like the MoveOn.org ad" hurt the cause they believe in. Only 12% believe they help the cause while 17% say there is no impact. Twenty-four percent (24%) are not sure. Again, political liberals are divided with 27% saying they help and 32% taking the opposite view. Fifty percent (50%) of moderates and 57% of conservatives say that these sorts of events hurt the cause the group is trying to promote.
HT to Captains Quarters who had this to say:
It's an amazing sweep. MoveOn managed to unite most of the country -- against MoveOn. Eli Pariser planned on making this into a series of ads, but he'd do better by burying the Betray Us theme and hope everyone forgets about it -- and quicklyLet's recap, it did absolutely nothing to help Democrats on Iraq, or to stop the war, but it did embarrass a lot of Democratic candidates who were put in a tight spot of having to renounce the organization that has been a major source of funds. Well done!

2. I liked the ad. The headline asked a question and then gave actual facts to let the reader make up their own mind. I think this post is forgetting to say that 1000s of people joined Move-on.org after they placed the ad and it also helped raise more than $500,000 for their efforts. Not bad if you ask me.
As for those turn-coat democratic party members who voted no confidence in the ad let me remind them about freedom of speech. And frankly just how many repubs voted for an amendment condeming the swift boating of Max Cleveland or John Kerry... Let me say ZERO!

3. Once a radical organization MoveOn has moved into the spotlight as a more mainstream representation of the Democratic Party. Democratic Presidential canidates pander to this extremist sect of the Democratic party by attending the Daily Kos convention and blow off the more traditional Democratic National Convention.
Democrats conceded a positive turn of events in Iraq weeks and months leading up to General Petraeus' testimony.
Knowing General Petraeus' report would be generally positive Democrats, like Hillary among others, put on a show for the anti-war base by calling General Petraeus a liar.
The MoveOn ad exposed the liberal bias of the media, particually the Times, by giving MoveOn a discount and running a personnal attack ad the day of Petraeus' testimony.
The MoveOn ad put anti-war Democrats on the spot as others condemed the MoveOn "Betray Us" ad. While calling General Petraeus a liar Hillarys' silence about the MoveOn ad was telling, afraid to incur the wrath of MoveOn by condeming the ad.
Congress and the Senate were quick to force votes on resolutions to condem the ad forcing the anti-war crowd "on the record" with votes for or against the resolution.
Without time to check polls and gauge public sentiment Hillary voted AGAINST a Senate resolution to condem the "Betray Us" ad.
As the above polls show, and is evident by Hillary appearing on FOX news no less to finally condem the MoveOn "Betray Us" ad, MoveOn has exposed their radical nature to the world and millions voting Americans.
If indeed MoveOn raised $500,000 and enlisted 1000's more members as a result of the MoveOn "Betray Us" ad as RMWiersema asserts, the millions who were turned off by the MoveOn "Betray Us" ad makes this a net loss come election time.
It seems MoveOn tried to "swift boat" General Petraeus and shot the Democrats in the foot.

4. The move-on "Betray Us" add clearly demonstrate that the far left fantics have seized power in the Democrat Party.
Move-on has convinced this Independent voter to flip the Republican switch come election day. It is remarks, like those spewing from Hilary Clinton and Move-On, that have convinced me the fanatical Democrat party is something I want no part of.
It is hard to believe, as cunning as the fanatical left-wing fringe is, that they do not realize how many of us Independent voters they have pushed into the open arms of the Republican Party.
