McCain Says He Voted for Bush

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (May 9) - Republican John McCain on Friday disputed blogger Arianna Huffington's contention that she heard him say he voted against President Bush in 2000.

In a report, Huffington insisted she heard McCain say, at a Los Angeles dinner party after the 2000 election, he had not voted for Bush.

Two other guests at the party, former "West Wing" actors Bradley Whitford and Richard Schiff, said they heard McCain say the same thing; they were asked by Huffington to speak Thursday to The New York Times and The Washington Post.

McCain's campaign said Thursday she was making up the story to promote a book, and McCain disputed the story.

"I voted, campaigned for, worked as hard as I could for President Bush's election in 2000 and 2004," McCain told reporters. "I voted for President Bush, I said so at the time. I know we're already in silly season, but my record stands very clearly of campaigning all over this nation on behalf of the candidacy of President Bush.

"It's nonsense," he said.

McCain, now the likely GOP nominee, lost a bitter presidential primary race in 2000 to Bush.

Of course he voted for the President, heck he campaigned hard for him .
McCain is left of Bush and his views about no drilling and being more green than Obama is scary. I think McCain will make a great leader but the fact that he's not being tough on illegal's and his liberal GORE like views on global warming is like votting for a Democrat. Conservatives have nobody this election and must McCain
because he won't tax and spend.

Newsweek catches MC CAIN in a serious contradiction.....See what Greenwald says.....
But that isn't what they did. Instead, when confronted with the discrepancy, the McCain campaign lied about the testimony, offering a patently absurd explanation for what McCain meant when he testified: "I'm sure I spoke with him, yes." That behavior is highly suggestive of a deliberate attempt to mislead -- just going into full-blown defense mode and saying anything without regard to truth.

If deliberately misleading the public about communications with key campaign contributors is not a "serious" offense -- and, more generally, if the instinct to jump into full, fact-free, self-defense mode when confronted with accusations of wrongdoing (rather than admitting errors and honestly confronting them) isn't "serious" -- then what is?

Anyone would say anything in an election! Don't think Arianna would make up a story and 2 others confirmed. I'm sure McCain changed his story to suite the current election. I just thought he'd keep his integrity. Am disappointed.

JudithGrayson, If you vote for McCain you will be voting AGAINST everything Hillary Clinton has been working FOR. You will be voting against bring our troops home from a war that is not making America safer, that is costing 100 lives and $12 Billion every month -- and that has plunged our economy into a deep recession while leaving us vulnerable militarily. You willl be voting against ending the Bush tax cuts -- the cuts for those earning over $545,000 -- and against shifting those cuts to the middle class, so that working people can hold onto their homes and help jumpstart this economy. You will be voting against having America's energy policies written by policymakers interested in the welfare of Americans and America, rather than by oil companies interested in their own profits. You will be voting against establishing a healthcare system that meets the needs of all Americans, and against women's rights ( in the workplace as well as reproductive rights -- both of which McCain op

John McCain like every other American has the right to vote for whoever he wants, and it should be every Americans choice as to whether they want to tell everyone who they voted for. It is a right and a privilege to vote, and who we vote for is no one elses business!!!

I can't imagine why anyone of sound mind would vote for McCain. He will only continue the Bush administration for another 4 years. Hasn't the Bush administration already done enough damage to our country???

BIGOTRY AND MC CAIN
. McCain has sought closer ties to the extreme religious right in recent years. The pastor McCain calls his "spiritual guide," Rod Parsley, believes America's founding mission is to destroy Islam, which he calls a "false religion." McCain sought the political support of right-wing preacher John Hagee, who believes Hurricane Katrina was God's punishment for gay rights and called the Catholic Church "the Antichrist" and a "false cult."9
