Just hours after being sentenced to three years' probation for her December 2007 drunk driving arrest, actress Mischa Barton hammed it up in a bikini for a photographer. Some say the scantily-clad beach pics were meant to distract from her sentencing.

Far from the normal photog-hiding-behind-a-tree ambush shots, the photos look more like a staged photo shoot, with Barton looking mugging directly at the camera. "Whose hair looks like that when they go to the beach?" one image consultant remarked.

While many stars loathe the paparazzi, the practice of forming a bond with them to either gain publicity or deflect attention from other doings is becoming more popular among celebs these days. "You arrange a location, you invite a photographer or two, and there you go," a publicist told ABC News.
