Brangelina Did Not Tie the Knot

(March 30) - As the truth behind the Brangelina wedding rumors comes into focus, it seems the only knots being tied are in the stomachs at a certain celebrity magazine.

On Saturday Star reported that Brangelina had finally said "I do." The magazine's story didn't offer any details of a wedding dress or a guest list. It stated only that the couple wed during an intimate ceremony in their adopted hometown of New Orleans on Saturday afternoon.

By Sunday a different source told Us magazine that the story is "complete and total bulls--t ... Bottom line, they aren't even in New Orleans."

OK! magazine followed up Us' report with a call to Reverend Anthony Talavera, proprietor of the French Quarter Wedding Chapel, where Star claimed the couple wed.

"Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were not married in our chapel, period," said Talavera. "I've never even met them. Star magazine offered me $3000 for an interview, and I turned them down. I would never divulge any information about any of our clients for money."

OK! had earlier reported that when contacted for details, Pitt's representative only offered up a vague "no idea" about whether the rumors of a wedding were true.

PEOPLE was among the first to shoot down the rumor early Sunday morning, citing a source close to the couple who said no wedding took place.

Finally, come Sunday afternoon, Star changed their story, running a near-retraction that read in part, "After further investigation, the sources are not standing by their story. Brad and Angelina's reps have not commented."

"We talked to someone who was there. It was at the French Quarter Wedding Chapel," Star editor-in-chief Candace Trunzo had previously told the New York Daily News.

Star's track record with Brangelina wedding news? Consider that this is at least the third marriage for the couple on the pages of the magazine. Back in September of 2006, their cover story proclaimed 'Angie & Brad Say 'I Do.'' 'Why Angelina Finally Said Yes ... The Rings Brad Bought ... The Wedding Dress, Place & Vows' read details in the issue. In February of 2007, Star proclaimed they had 'Brad & Angelina's Secret Vows ... The Couple Holds an Intimate Ceremony to Honor Her Mother's Dying Wish.'

Pitt and Jolie have both tied the knot before, with unsuccessful results. Pitt's five-year marriage to Jennifer Aniston dissolved in 2005 once Pitt worked side by side with Jolie on the set of 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith.' Jolie divorced British actor Jonny Lee Miller in 1999 and her two-year marriage to Billy Bob Thornton crumbled in 2002.

Just this week, there was speculation that Pitt and Jolie would have no problem fetching top dollar for photos of their baby, due later this year. The couple, who some report are expecting twins, could take home up to $10 million according to The New York Post, far eclipsing the recent jackpot for Jennifer Lopez, which PEOPLE reportedly paid $6 million for.

Pitt and Jolie already have one biological child, Shiloh, and three adopted children, Pax Thien, Maddox and Zahara.

Looking for Pitt and Jolie to confirm the wedding story? The couple didn't even speak to the rumors that Jolie was expecting. Instead, they let Jolie's belly do the talking when she revealed her baby bump on the red carpet at February's Independent Spirit Awards. They have yet to follow it up with an official statement.
