(March 25) - Patrick Swayze's publicist says don't be fooled by a Web site using his likeness to help push for a pancreatic cancer cure.

The actor's face and name appear all over cureconnieandpatrick.com. The Connie is Connie Loughman, who the Web site says is an Indianapolis wife and mother of three suffering, like Swayze, from pancreatic cancer. The site asks visitors to write to executives at the biotech firm GenVec to encourage them to allow those suffering with pancreatic cancer access to a new treatment they are developing.

Cancer Battle

Patrick Swayze's bout with cancer is going so well that the actor is ready to start filming his new series, 'The Beast,' for A&E. "I have searched for quite a long time to find a character that is this multi-layered, unpredictable and downright entertaining, as well as a project this current and cutting edged," he said in a statement.

Defamer.com heard directly from Swayze's publicist, Annett Wolf, who said "Patrick is not aware of this Web site, and he has no association with it or the medication it advertises. He is not affiliated with the woman from the site; Patrick had no knowledge of her."

Defamer wonders whether Swayze, who certainly has more pressing matters to deal with, will ask to have his likeness removed from the site or attempt to have it shut down altogether. A source told Defamer that they were not aware whether Swayze's camp had contacted the Loughman family yet.

The family launched their public campaign by sending press releases out to Web sites that read:

An Indiana family is hoping for an Easter miracle - in the form of obtaining access to a revolutionary new treatment that holds the potential to cure both Hollywood legend, Patrick Swayze, and their beloved mother and wife from the ravages of pancreatic cancer - one of the most deadly forms of cancer.

On Monday, March 24, 2008 the Loughman family of Indianapolis, IN, will hold a news conference at which they will launch a public relations campaign asking the public to help them secure access of the revolutionary new treatment for pancreatic cancer, TNFerade, for patients including their mother/wife - Connie; Mr. Swayze; and others suffering from the disease. ... As part of their public campaign, the Loughman family has launched the website: CureConnieAndPatrick.com
