About to Pop: Donnie Klang

Solange
Bad Boy
Who: Donnie Klang
Album: 'Just a Rolling Stone'
Single: 'Take You There' (featuring Diddy)
Hails From: Iowa City, IA
For Fans Of: Robin Thicke and Justin Timberlake

Why He's About to Pop: Last year, Donnie Klang went to "make the band," but he scored his own solo record deal instead. After appearing on 'Making the Band 4,' Sean "Diddy" Combs was so impressed by the then 22-year-old singer that he felt he should get a separate contract apart from the group. Klang has just released his debut album, 'Just a Rolling Stone,' a title that the singer came up with while recording a song with producer Seven Aurelius. "[Seven] had an instrumental," Klang explains. "He told me to go in the booth and 'record whatever is on your mind -- just speak from your heart.' I ended up talking about how I feel like I'm getting bigger and bigger by the day, and the chances of me finding a girl that's real for me is getting less and less. Basically, I'm just a rolling stone." Catch Donnie Klang at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, September 7, and on select dates around the country through November 8. Watch 'Take You There' feat. Diddy after the jump.

Katy Perry Playing a 'Virgin' at VMAs

Katy Perry
Chris Polk, FilmMagic.com
It was five years ago when Madonna passed the proverbial torch to Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera during a collaborative performance of Madge's 'Like a Virgin' -- which spawned the kiss seen 'round the world at the MTV Video Music Awards. This year, on the show's 25th anniversary, Spears will return to that stage to open the event. But this time, it won't be Spears rolling around on the floor in a bridal dress talking about metaphorical chastity. No, that honor goes to Katy Perry, who will perform 'Like a Virgin' on the Sept. 7 broadcast.
That was just one of the sneak peaks revealed at the Paramount Studios lot in L.A. on Thursday, when host comedien Russell Brand and surprise guests Christina Aguilera and T.I. gathered for a preview of the show. And you know the VMAs love them some surprises.
