I was always a rock 'n roll person until one afternoon in 1995, in a dusty old record shop, I heard Eddy Arnold playing on their stereo. I asked "Who is that?? He's got such a nice sound". Pretty soon I had most of his records and they still sound wonderful. He seemed like such a happy guy, with a big warm smile, and he invested such humanity in his songs. His ballads especially just ache with longing and pure beauty. Whatta guy!!

I was raised on a cattle ranch and when Eddy's song "The Cattle Call" came out all of us wranglers were singing it to the cows. Great memories. Eddy will be missed.
