Dr. Pepper Urges Axl to Drop 'Democracy'

(March 26) -- After 17 years of artistic toiling and tweaking, will Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose finally be convinced to release 'Chinese Democracy ... because of free soda?

Dr. Pepper is leaning on the volatile singer to release the 13-years-delayed album, pledging they'll give every American -- except Rose's guitarist foes Slash and Buckethead -- a free can of soda if the album is released in 2008, Page Six reports.

Will 'Democracy'
Ever Reign?

1 of 7

Seventeen years in the making and at least $13 million spent during production, Axl Rose's 'Chinese Democracy' has become a music industry enigma.

The company says they understand Rose's artistic integrity due to their own struggle to create their soft drink. "It took a little patience for us to perfect Dr Pepper's special mix of 23 ingredients, so we completely understand and empathize with Axl's question for the perfect album," a spokesperson told Page Six.

'Chinese Democracy' has become one of the most notorious examples of a highly-anticipated album that may never see the light of day. Rose's infamous perfectionism has kept the album off the shelves for nearly two decades, save for some less-than-finished song leaks on the Internet here and there.

No...Izzy isn't Buckethead....No one really knows who Buckethead is. Also, Axl just release the album please. I'm begging you. Get on your bipolar meds, and actually see that it's about time to get this show on the road....or better yet, move on from GN'R.......you guys had your glory days 20 years ago, and maybe you should just sit in your mansion for the rest of your life and leave the outside world alone. And get rid of the braids....please I mean you don't see Robert Plant or Ozzy rocking that hip hop do.....cuz it's for rappers, not rock gods. And also, I doubt Chinese Democracy will be nearly as good as the original GN'R albums, your voice has to be completly destroyed from your good ol' screeching days. The old GN'R was my favorite band, but what you have to offer is worthless. Slash did the right thing by leaving.

1. dr pepper isn't that great of a drink.

2. i don't know which is worst: axl thinking that the world is just gonna wait on his "perfectionist" ass to make an album alread, or the fans that enable him. disgusting......

3. don't you think that it's about time to pack it up and move on? apparently the rest of GnR think so! and they have! and they haven't missed a beat since then. hmm......maybe they're on to something.......

4. shame on dr pepper for trying to make some money off this very sad case of "behind the music." if this is what their marketing team is coming up with these days, they ALL need to be FIRED!

Axl , release Chinese Democracy and open your tour in St Louis. Remember St Louis? Nice riot you started you prima donna asshat.
Axl Rose has proven over and over that he could give a shit about the fans that put him where he is. I know he won't read this but god I hate him. The blind hero worship of him and Micheal jackson are the two biggest mysteries of the world.

I'll take the free Dr. Pep, but waiting this long to release a stinkin' MUSIC ALBUM (for goodness sake) can only bode ill for the album's success. Today's taste in music is vastly different than it was seventeen years ago. Not to mention that seventeen years of buildup is likely to slaughter the hell out of the success of the album if it doesn't live up to the hype.

Dude, Axl... I know your great rockstarness will never lay eyes on this, but come ON, just let it go. Your hair sucks, your wardrobe sucks. If your album is mediocre, it'll be good for you. Drop the album, give us our Dr. Pepper, and retire already.

Come on, AXL! Release the album before everyone in this country forgets the greatness of Guns 'n Roses! Or better yet, why don't you and your fellow GNR alum stop being such babies and get back together for a reunion tour?!

I don't know what his reason is for waiting to release it but if it is for perfection he's never going to achieve it as long as he's providing the vocals.

AT ONE TIME GUNS AND ROSES WERE ON TOP OF THE WORLD, THEY WERE ONE OF THOSE BANDS THAT WOULD GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS ONE OF THE BEST, BUT GREED, DRUGS AND ALL THAT GOES ALONG WITH STARDOM KICKED IN AND DESTROYED THEM. EVERYTHING THEY DID AT ONE TIME WAS AT THE TOP OF THE CHARTS. WHEN AXL IS OLDER HE WILL LOOK IN THE MIRROR AND SAY "MAN I COULD HAVE BEEN A LEGEND" BUT I JUST TURNED OUT LOOKIN LIKE THIS...WHAT HAPPENED???
