Quit Meat ... Help Planet, McCartney Says

NEW YORK (April 21) - Former Beatle Paul McCartney is urging the world to go vegetarian in a bid to fight global warming and is surprised more green groups don't promote it.

In an interview with the animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), McCartney said the global meat industry was a major contributor to global warming. A transcript of the PETA interview was given to Reuters.

What's Your Take?

"The biggest change anyone could make in their own lifestyle would be to become vegetarian," McCartney, a longtime vegetarian and advocate of vegetarianism, said. "I would urge everyone to think about taking this simple step to help our precious environment and save it for the children of the future."

McCartney says the amount of land and water used to maintain the meat industry makes it a major contributor to climate change and complains that most environmental groups do not list vegetarianism as one of their top priorities.

"It's very surprising that most major environmental organizations are leaving the option of going vegetarian off their lists of top ways to curtail global warming," he said.

A 2006 United Nations report found that cattle-rearing generated more greenhouse gases than transportation.

I absolutely agree, hatebear. I have not read one good, solid fact about how meat eating is good for you, but have posted many reasons it is not. It's bad for the environment and your bodies. Going veg reduces your risk of cancers, obesity, diabetes and several other devastating diseases...open your eyes, close your mouths and accept reality!

All of the typos and crazy reasoning on behalf of the meat eating crowd just shows that either they're too scared to admit that eating meat is wrong or they're too lazy and selfish to be willing to change their ways. Either way the comments here sure do make the meat eaters look like a bunch of defensive idiots with no ground to stand on.

Hooray for healthier, comapassionate, ecologically friendly lifestyles! Go vegans and GO VEGAN!!!

Paul, if you want people to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, and less meat, I will be happy to accept monetary donations from you and your other celebrity do good friends. After all, quality fresh fruits and vegetables, are more expensive than the hot dogs and spam that I can afford to eat now. If you want to contact me, send me an email at yahoo.com.

Why anyone cares what Paul McCartney or Bruce Springsteen think is beyond me. Who gives a rat's red ass what either of those pretentious and in Springsteen's case totally talentless pie holes spew forth?
And, while I am at it: who cares about Victoria Beckham? Her husband is a damn limey soccer player! Soccer! Communist Kickball - does it get lamer than that?
Message to Paul McCartney, I don't want to hold your hand - I want you to hold your own hand, tightly over your stupid, insipid, dolt mouth! Too bad the ex didn't take him for just enough money that he would have to shut up and work instead of tell the world how we should live! Oh, and by the way, Pauly boy, how is the old Marharishi Marresh Yogi? Any more bright ideas?

"Stick to what you do best Paul, singing and songwriting."

It was 30 years ago that he last produced any real music of merit. He has always been abit pretentious on this issue to which he and Linda were so closely tied. Sorry Paul we like our hamburgers, steaks and chickens cooked and served. You want to go mow the lawn for dinner, feel free.
