WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (April 30) - Authorities decided against prosecuting Vanilla Ice for a domestic battery charge since his wife recanted her original statement.

The 40-year-old performer (real name: Robert Van Winkle) - who sold 15 million copies of the single "Ice Ice Baby" in 1990 - was arrested April 10 at the couple's home. Authorities said his wife called 911 and claimed he kicked and hit her during an argument. She later told deputies he only pushed her.

In an affidavit provided to Palm Beach County prosecutors, Laura Van Winkle recanted her original allegations. She now says any physical confrontation was accidental.

Prosecutors on Tuesday closed the case.

When is this guy going to go away? He was a loser then and a loser now. It all started when he had an identity complex and didn't know what color he was. Then when he got beat up by Willis from Different Strokes I thought we'd seen his low point. Now he beats women? Let me guess, is he going to try to make a comeback now

an ex-coworker was in jail with vanilla ice in 2001, when ice was arrested for battery of his wife and she changed her story and he was out later that day. its a sad sick cycle. on the surreal life we had a small insight into the temper of mr. van winkle. would it have been more violent without cameras there? possibly. women need to stop allowing it to continue and men need to not put their hands on people and vice versa...

A few years ago, when my husband and I lived near Miami, Vanilla Ice did THE SAME THING TO HIS WIFE!!! It was all in the papers and on TV about him abusing his wife. Now again! All I can say is, if she is stupid enough to put up with it, she deserves it! I'd have kicked his sorry ass out years ago as I believe that NO ONE, man or woman, should raise their hands to hit the other!!!!!!!!! No hitting, shoving, pushing, etc. and also emotional abuse is wrong! This man seems to be an abuser and always gets by with it. He's probably too chicken to pick on someone his own size.....a man. He needs a man to kick his ass a few times for him!!!!!!!!!!

I just dont see the difference between kicking or pushing..I mean violence is violence and this is just another case of a celebrity getting off light on a serious charge.
