(May 5) - A performer will often stage a press conference to announce tour plans. But Tom Waits isn't just any artist.

Tom's Big News

The notoriously quirky and guttural-voiced singer, who rarely plays live, announced dates for his "Glitter and Doom" tour on his Web site in what seemed like a bustling and lively room of reporters. Soon it becomes obvious Waits is talking to an empty void, with staged questions being fed to him by a record player.

Waits will kick off the 13-show tour on June 17 in Phoenix. He offered the "pretty profound" acronym "PEHDTSCKJMBA" -- the first initial of each city -- as the "guiding word" for the tour.

The acronym stands for "People Envy Happiness, Dogs Though, Sense Courage Knowing Jubilation Means Better Assets."

No details were given on supporting acts for the tour, his first since 2006. Most dates are in southern cities.

June 17-18: Phoenix, Ariz. (Orpheum)
June 20: El Paso, Texas (Plaza Theatre)
June 22: Houston (Jones Hall)
June 23: Dallas (Palladium)
June 25: Tulsa, Ok. (Brady Theatre)
June 26: St. Louis (Fox Theatre)
June 28: Columbus, Ohio (Ohio Theatre)
June 29: Knoxville, Tenn. (Civic Theatre)
July 1: Jacksonville, Fla. (Moran Theatre)
July 2: Mobile, Ala. (Saenger Theatre)
July 3: Birmingham, Ala. (Alabama Theatre)
July 5: Atlanta (Fox Theatre)

The 'stars' are punking out the paparazzi so good lately. Notice how quiet they've been??
They must be BORED now that Britney is home all the time, Paris is off 'saving the world', Nicole Richey is now a baby momma and Lindsay Lohan is racking up sobriety chips and avoiding the media.
Good thing Hannah Montana Mylie Cyrus is there for them....she has the paparazzi stage all to herself right now.
