(April 28) - Amy Winehouse's father Mitch Winehouse believes only extreme measures can help his daughter, who's been in an out of rehab, reportedly taped abusing drugs, and photographed wandering the streets in her underwear, among other offenses.

Just days after leaving a British hospital after a week-long stay that culminated with Amy Winehouse being diagnosed with the lung disease emphysema, the starlet was caught smoking a cigarette despite her condition.

"I want her sectioned. The situation is getting out of control. I want her off the street," he told News of the World.

Winehouse thinks another stint in rehab won't help the 'Back to Black' singer at all.

"I don't think being somewhere for six weeks is going to cure her problems. I think it needs far more radical measures. We will take the bull by the horns and deal with it."

As far as Amy is concerned, her father says he only wants "what's best for her."

"Unfortunately, what I think is best for Amy and what she thinks is best for her are two different things," he lamented.

The 57-year-old acknowledges that he needs others' expertise to place the singer in a mental hospital.

"You need all four -- the psychologists, the doctor, the local health authority and the next of kin -- all to decide that somebody is sectionable."

"I've told them she is a danger to herself. There is evidence of self-harming and she's a danger to other people because she's attacked someone," Winehouse added.

The troubled star was arrested last Friday in London for attacking two people, and later released.

"I have spoken to her about that and she told me the situation got completely out of hand. Clearly this can't continue ... If I was in England, I'd be around there and try to impress upon her the foolishness of her ways," her dad said.

reasons to lock amy winehouse up:
1-she smokes crack in public (if you were going ot do it wouldnt you at least do it in the privacy of your own home?)
2-she wears undergarments on the STREET (granted most celebrities dont-and amy we thank you for doing us the favor of at least keeping your bra and pannies on)
3-SHE IS NUTS

i feel bad for her. What she does is by no means right but maybe if we all just let her disappear for awhile without all of the media bugging her maybe she could reform. But thats never going to happen if everyone keeps dare i say "stalking" her. Its the same thing with Britney spears too. and dont give me flames for this its my opinion and we are all entitled to our own opinion wheter others like it or not. God bless you amy, and i hope you can pull yourself together. = )
