Stories put out by Col. Tom Parker, who was not a Col., and not named Tom Parker, may not be totally reliable. He managed Ed Arnold before Elvis Pressley. Elvis was allegedly born in `35 and `38, and started recording at 19, in `54 and `57, the Hot 100 debuted in `58. The claim is Elvis tried to dodge the Korean War draft. But at 18 in `53 or `56, he would have had a high school deferment from the draft. And the US was stalemated in Korea, `51 to `53, so Elvis wouldn`t have been eligable before the US involvement in the war ended in `53. And I don`t believe Elvis would have used illegal means to dodge the draft if the war hadn`t already ended. So reports on Sun Records, and Elvis before RCA aren`t reliable, but he could sing and play, and I wish his memory, and the three generations of Pressley ladies, well.
