Richie Bests Aguilera in Baby Mag Sales

(March 5) - Why did Nicole Richie's PEOPLE cover featuring her and her daughter Harlow Winter easily outsell the PEOPLE cover Chirstina Aguilera posed for with her son Max?

According to MSNBC.com, a combination of Christina's inability to sell on covers in the past and a curiousity about Nicole's lifestyle contributed to the 'Simple Life' star beating the singer in sales.

"Christina historically doesn’t do that well on covers," a magazine source says.

"There’s also a greater element of curiosity with Nicole. She’s gone public about being a heroin addict. Her boyfriend is covered in tattoos. By default, she’s got the more interesting baby. People want to see how she settles down. They want to see what kind of baby someone with her background has," the same source adds.

Nicole's cover sold 1.8 million, while Christina's sold far less, although exact numbers weren't available from PEOPLE, who say it's too early to tell how well the covers did.

Furthermore, Aguilera allegedly fired her manager and assistant when she found of how low the sales were for her cover shot, the New York Daily News reports.

Nicoles was a double issue.Thats probably why it sold better. I get the magazine every week because it has good stories in it,like the everyday heroes.I couldn't find the Christina cover ANYWHERE. That's the only reason I didn't buy it.I'm in florida.It wasn't in any Daytona Beach store that I went in!

Oh and mucutie03, I TOTALLY AGREE!! Dont get me wrong, I love curling up with a magazine, but if no one buys the one with J-HO, maybe People magazine will think twice about paying someone else with only cares for themselves, 6 mill for picks of what I heard were babies that were as ugly as their father! They should take that money they are wasting and give it to a good charity and maybe people will actually buy the magazine because they will be doing something good! Wait a sec? Didnt I just say that was the reason Nicholes cover sold more? Because she was more appealing then the selfish B-otch Christina? Well.... I dont think its a coincidence.

I bought them both! Not because of the covers, just simply because I like to read. With what people are saying, by Christina firing her manager and assistant, she was definately "pimpin out" her kid. I dont think that was Nichole intentions at all. I mean I could be wrong, but People magazine comes to them to ask for them to be their cover stories right? Well you don't get something for nothing in this day in age so ofcourse they are gonna get paid for it. Some celeb parents are more greedier then others! I honestly dont see Nichole being like that! I know I dont know her or anything but she genuinly seems to be trying to turn her life around. Take it from me, as a child of a 5 year into recovery heroin addict, people who truely wanted to get off the stuff, most of the time see a whole new light! My father sees life through a new set of eyes now. Happy he is still alive (his brother, my uncle, wasnt so lucky and lost his battle early last year) and all the things he thought
