Lindsay Lohan Gears Up for 'Ugly' Role

(May 5) - Lindsay Lohan made her first appearance on the set of 'Ugly Betty' last Saturday, May 3, after months of rumors surrounding her possible stint on the show.

The troubled actress will appear in the May 22 'Ugly' finale, as well as five episodes next season, playing Betty's down-on-her-luck former schoolmate.

Lohan arrived early to the set and "really hit it off" with America Ferrera, the star of the series, MSNBC reports.

According to one industry insider, this role could make or break Lohan's struggling career.

"She really, really needs this to go well. For the longest time she’s been getting terrible advice -- that's been obvious for quite some time. This is the first good decision she's made from an acting standpoint since 'Georgia Rule,'" the source said.

The insider added that it's possible for Lohan rebound from her past troubles.

"Look what Robert Downey Jr. has done with his career. He was in much worse shape than Lindsay, and look what he did. She just needs to keep making good choices."

Personlly, I loved Georgia rule and to be frank, I was expecting the worst and had my little movie critic's odd stacked against her and thought she would do poorly. But...i felt she played the role of Rachel incredibly well especially b/c Lindsay's public image is pretty identical to Lindsay's character in the movie.

Is she off drugs now? I haven't watched any access hollywood in awhile so I don't know. Just like Brittney if she got on the wagon I think people would gladly accept her back. Personally I've always liked her and thought she was hot but now she looks like a gross drug addict. I want the old, clean, Lindsay Lohan back, who's with me?

EVERYONE makes mistakes, mostly when were young.
I never thought she was beautiful, but she is no dog for sure. And she IS a good actress.
I wish her all the best, I hope she turns her life around though. She is too young to throw it all away. She has the world at her feet now, I hope she takes advantage of all the opportunities she has, and will have in the future if she keeps her nose clean.
