Steve-O Blogs About 'Alcohol and Drugs'

(March 15) - 'Jackass' star Steve-O, who is currently in rehab after a bizarre series of Internet videos, poured his heart out on his MySpace blog, diving deep into his family history and the reasons he turned to alcohol and drugs.

In the blog post, Steve-O -- real name Steven Glover -- explains that his mother was an alcoholic, and that his parents even fed him liquor as a baby to keep him quiet. He says they traveled by airplane frequently, and that "before Mom and Dad would find themselves in the embarrassing position of being caught by other passengers with a crying baby, I was fed alcohol."

He goes on to talk about his mother's alcohol addiction, relating it to his own. "I think the truth is that I was always powerless over it. I know I was always powerless over alcoholism, because it had such a grip on Mom’s adulthood and my childhood, and I never chose to fight it," he said.

He said his mother did many bad things while drunk, including hiding her own cancer, and he hopes that his relatives and friends will be as forgiving of him as he was to his own mother.

"I also can’t believe I ever picked up my first drink on my own after the way alcohol ruined her life. God, I miss my Mom," he writes.

Saxophone player Leroi Moore of the Dave Matthews Band was hurt this week while riding his ATV at his farm in Virginia. According to the band's Web site, he was rushed to the hospital where he is listed in fair condition.

He goes on to talk about his addiction to nitrous oxide gas cartridges. "I haven’t mentioned nitrous oxide, the drug I 'fiend' for, by far, the most," he says, adding that he "used to inhale this gas by the cartridge, specifically, by the case (a case containing 600 cartridges)."

That was, until he "had a number of not-at-all-subtle experiences that indicated to me that I had to give up the nitrous oxide."

He ends the post with a few choice f-bombs, but between them, says this to his fans: "I'm not ready to die. I'm ready to live. I’m ready to breathe (properly, even). I'm ready to fall in love. I'm ready to become ready to start a family. I'm ready to be happy, fulfilled and meaningful."

the man has made his fame from jackass, they get drunk do drugs and what frame of reference do you have on that type of life style? done, you have no idea how he lives. bottom line- what have you all done with your life? more than likely not a thing as dope as he has.

I don't believe Steve-O' treatmentcan be compared insanity and shopping mall massacres,. He is, after all, arguably a celebrity, and since Jackass, I'm sure he hasn't lived a hard life.

I don't find his humor to my taste at all, it tends to make me nauseated, along with Knoxville and the rest of the Stooges.

However, anyone with a substance abuse problem has my sincere wishes for recovery, and maybe some of his chemical abuse contributed to his bizarre behavior and yearning for attention.

Even though I don't like his "act" at all, I wish him the best of luck in his recovery, and hope he has a strong support system to lean on.
