(June 1) -- An artist with a potentially deadly tangle of blood vessels in her brain is drawing on the hallucinations she suffers to inspire her work, ABC News reported.
Alison Silva, 33, was diagnosed with the brain lesion after an episode in 2006 that "pretty much felt like a carnival ride -- flashing lights, wavy lines, everything was blurry and I felt very clumsy," she recalled.

Doctors told Silva her condition could lead to fatal bleeding or seizures. The diagnosis threw her into depression at first. But then she decided to put her hallucinations into her art. She has declined surgery, saying that she doesn't want to cut the creative pipeline.
"I was scared the operation would change my art," Silva told ABC. "I wanted to paint every day after that. One detail, one emotion almost became like a diary. It put me on the edge and forced me to be even more creative."
Silva is featured in a new documentary on outsider art, work that doesn't fit in the mainstream. 'The Artists' Sanctuary' is to be submitted to film festivals this year.
Some researchers have said that brain injuries can unleash a person's creative juices by inhibiting the "thinking side" of the brain. For anecdotes of people who have experienced that phenomenon, read the full ABC News story. You can see more of Silva's artwork on her Web site.

i think even if it helps her art her it shouddn't matter she should at least try the surgery i mean if you need a tumor to help you be creative then did you have no imagination in the first place?

if anyone honestly thinks that there is some sort of magical and mystical herbal natural cure...you are ignorant towards the efforts of thousands of scientists around the world, inconsiderate to try and convince real patients of this mystery cure, and sorely mistaken and misinformed.

there are many many religous people that comment on these things.sometimes surgery or treatment could make it worse. i heard radiation causes cancer so radiation treatment would make cancer or tumors ect worse

I was studying a bit more of her stuff. I think it must be getting close for the end for her. I believe God is working on her conscious alot. You can see imagery throughout her work of christian symbology. I notice catholic symbology in there also. She definately has no biblical understanding, at least of the true gospel message. You can see references to Mary. She seems to reject satan, but lacks understanding that satan is woven into some of the things she is holding onto or has in her life. Various ideas and thoughts. Aspects of true godliness are clearly distorted to her. Talented work, but sometimes that talent is wasted on messed up ideas.

There are natural cures. Doctors don't know everything. ANd analyzing her work, it is actually a little frightening when you look at it in depth. The spiritual forces behind her drawings are what frightens me more for her, than the fact she may die. I used to be into alot of shamanism before becoming christian, thought alot of spirits I was dealing with were good spirits. Seemed friendly. Just because I was a really nice guy, didn't mean I was in spiritual trouble. ANd I fear for her soul.

My sister is 9 and she is in remission from a braintumor. She was diagnosed when she was 6. She had 3 surgerys and had 6 weeks of radiation. Now she suffers from obesidy, diabeties insipadis, and thyroid problems. My sister is very good at drawing for her age and she wants to be an artist. I think that Alison should have the surgery. She may not be able to draw any more, but she is still alive.

Seriously? Wow, the possibility of dying instead of losing your creativity in art is the single most ludicrous thing I have ever heard. I'm not even going to get started on how selfish that is. Since when did people become so ridiculous?
