(Oct. 26) - Elizabeth Edwards understands that she will ultimately lose her battle with breast cancer. But right now she's too focused on living her life to worry about dying.
"Cancer will probably win," she told
WJLA-TV, ABC 7 in Washington, in an interview last week. "Why would I give it any more days than it may already take? That's the choice I make."

Edwards was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004. She underwent a lumpectomy and
chemotherapy. Then, in March 2007, the cancer returned. This time it had spread to her bones and was inoperable.
Now 60, Edwards told the station she no longer believes God will cure her -- only that he will give her the strength to endure.
The wife of former presidential candidate John Edwards told the station that she is busy speaking, writing, and pushing for cancer research. She also spends as much time as she can with her two young children, Jack and Emma Claire. Daughter Cate is in her 20s.
The Edwardses' eldest son, Wade, was killed in a car crash in 1996. He was just 16 years old.
His death remains the hardest thing his mother has ever had to endure. "Nothing compares to Wade's death," she told WJLA. "No, not even the cancer."
The family has been dogged by scandal since the revelation that John Edwards, a former North Carolina senator, had an affair with former campaign videographer Rielle Hunter. Although there has been speculation that he is the father of Hunter's toddler daughter, he has denied paternity. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Elizabeth Edwards said she had "no idea" if her husband was the child's father.
In her interview with WJLA, Elizabeth Edwards said her husband has been supportive as she battles cancer.
"John said, 'Perhaps not the great love story that we hoped, but maybe a great love story nonetheless.' [It's] 'till death do you part -- because that's what I want," she said.
