(March 4) – Celebrities have stepped up to help a 6-year-old New York City girl who is suffering from a rare and particularly deadly form of leukemia.
Doctors fear Little Jasmina Anema could die unless she receives a bone-marrow transplant soon, according to the New York Daily News.

Singers Kelly Rowland and Rihanna and NBA star Paul Pierce are spreading the word about a bone marrow drive to be held Saturday in hopes of finding a match for Jasmina.
The best bets for donors are usually family members and, in the case of Jasmina, a donor who is African-American like her. But Jasmina was adopted, and her mother is white.
"I need thousands of people to come," Theodora Anema, Jasmina's mother, told the newspaper.
The "One for Jasmina" Web site has information about the donor drive, as well as how to become a donor by requesting a simple kit.

all it took was a swab of the mouth today or a donation to help pay for the test to be done to help this kid out . 1600 people turned out at ps 41 to do the test but it will not just be for this little girl if you match someone else you will be contacted .this young girl was lucky enough to be be school where one of her class mates moms in jill henesey fom the tv show crossing jordan and she was able to help with arranging this drive at school . Rihanna , NBA star Paul Pierceand Kelly Rowland tried to bring her need to the public . it is important that the african american community get more involved in organ and bone marrow donations it would help save lives in the african american community

BECOMING A PART OF THE DONOR REGISTRY IS QUICK, PAINLESS AND EVEN TAX DEDUCTIBLE. I SIGNED UP IN 1998, IT COSTED 35$ AND IT TOOK ABOUT 15 MINUTES OF MY TIME BECAUSE THERE WAS A LITTLE LINE <A SWAB & BLOOD TEST> WHAT A LITTLE SACRIFICE! **LITTLE DID I KNOW 4 YRS LATER MY COUSIN WOULD BE DIAGNOSED WITH AML.,ONE OF THE HARDEST FORMS OF LUEKEMIA TO FIGHT. I WASN'T A MATCH BUT HER PRECIOUS, ONLY SISTER WAS!! AFTER 2 BONE MARROW TRANSPLANTS AT M.D. ANDERSON, HOUSTON, TX. SHE HAS BEEN IN REMISSION OVER 3 YEARS AND GOT MARRIED LAST OCT. WHAT A CELEBTRATION OF LIFE THAT WAS!! =) WHAT WOULD YOU BEG, STEAL, OR BORROW IF YOU OR A LOVED ONE NEEDED THAT MATCH? GO TAKE THE TEST AND UPDATE YOUR INFO. EVERYTIME YOU MOVE OR CHANGE PHONE #. THEN, PRAY YOU NEVER NEED ONE OR THAT MAYBE YOU CAN GIVE THE GIFT OF LIFE TO SOMEONE ELSE. I HAVE NO REGRETS, I ONLY WISH I HAD MATCHED SOMEONE IN NEED AND WILL CONTUNUE TO WAIT. IT'S A WAY TO GIVE BACK TO MANKIND....TAKE TIME TO REGISTER AND GIVE THE GIF...

MsKim - for you to take was I said as SARCASM tells me that you did not get the point I was making AT ALL. I responded to the original poster who asked "why was this child so special". I am NIOT an uncaring person - quite the opposite in fact. And while I do not feel the need to post my OWN cancer experiences on an AOL board, I DO know from my experiences that ATTITUDE just come into play. Please do not mistake what you call sarcasm for reality.

Poena, WOW you sure have a sarcastic way of showing you care. NOBODY needs that kind of post- ESPECIALLY any victims to this or any disease. I happen to be a Leukemia survivor ONLY because of a stem cell transplant. Thank God because there was no donor match nation wide and my time was OUT. This is VERY SERIOUS for this child and her family, as well as the doctors, & all that support this child. For you to even infer in any way that theyneed to TRY a better attitude is totally out of line. Having lived through this, TRUST me EVERYONE involved has a positive and hopeful attitude. Anyway God bless this whole situation and my prayers foreverKim

Smacdo - WOW, interesting post. Did it ever occur to you that by these 3 "celebrities bringing attention to this particular child - whio by the way IS SPECIAL as are ALL children, that just maybe the ignorant of the world will become informed and step up the plate and help the cause? I'm sorry about your plight but I have always heard that a 'GOOD ATTITUDE" is half the battle - try it.

The parade of stars through little Jasmina Anema’s hospital room may not be able to help her survive her battle with a rare and fatal form of leukemia, but they’re trying.
