(May 4) - A 10-month-old Utah child has a medical illness that's bewildering doctors: She's shrinking. Maggie Agnew weighs just over 10 pounds -- well below the average weight of children the same age -- and is continually losing weight and muscle mass.
"She's getting plenty of calories, but her body is burning all the calories that she's getting and they don't know where it's going to," her father told MSNBC.
Maggie was born prematurely and suffers from other health problems, including a hole in her heart and an irregular heartbeat. But specialists in Utah can't figure out why the child is suffering the weight and muscle loss. They recommended that she be taken to a hospital in Boston for further tests, her father said.
