A few years ago, my doc told me that my cholesterol was a little high. He wanted to put me on a statin, and turned him down. But my Asian wife pushed me to take a reduced dose of Red Yeast Rice (the natural form of lovastatin). My Cholesterol did drop a little, but I would have to admit, I feel my cognitive ability has perked up. Then this study? Hmmm.....

Statins are a miracle drug. My father passed at 43 from a sudden heart attack, he was fit and healthy, but his liver made too much cholesterol. I had a heart attack at 34, my cholesterol when water-fasting was above 300. Now 46, my arteries are cleaner than they were 10 years ago, and I have no memory side-effects. Cholesterol when water-fasting went from 300 to 120-140. I now head a large technical department, so obviously it hasn't slowed me down. And as for not getting cholesterol for your brain, that's a joke, right? 120-140 is PLENTY of cholesterol for your brain.

This story gets a big BS. High cholesterol is not a disease- it's a symptom of other problems. Artificially lowering cholesterol indisciminately lowers it throughout the body- including your BRAIN which needs adequate levels to function properly.

And we live with these people, they are our neighbors, coworkers, and ____, ouch... As for Alzheimer's Disease, both parents contracted it, and it is no fun for the family, costly as all hell, and devastating to the survivers. We need to find a cure, now, as it is up and coming the worse disease of the aging ever. You have to live the years through it to understand.
