Darrel Wayne Mohler, a 72-year-old living in Florida, is the sixth family member charged with molesting children in Missouri. Mohler's brother and four adult nephews were charged earlier this week, and allegations against them include bestiality and forcing children into marriages. Police say more charges are likely.

Are children more likely to be abducted today than in the past? Given the nonstop coverage of such crimes in the national media, you might assume the answer to be yes. A look at the statistics, however, shows that the U.S. has actually become a safer place for children over the past decade.
