Tropical Storm Andres, slowing down and growing stronger off the coast of Mexico, could become a hurricane, forecaster say. Andres is the first named storm of the Eastern Pacific hurricane season.

Almost nine months ago, Hurricane Ike whipped through Texas, leaving thousands of homes without electricity. And without any distractions, many of those residents were left to do one thing: make babies. "You can only do so much when there's no television, nothing open and there's nowhere to go," says one expectant mother.

A new hurricane forecast from Colorado State University predicts 12 named storms for the upcoming Atlantic hurricane season, down from 14 in an earlier forecast. Changes in broad weather patterns, including cooler waters in the tropics, are behind the revised numbers.
