After briefly pounding Nicaragua's Atlantic coast as a hurricane, forecasters say Ida, seen here on Thursday, has weakened to a tropical storm and is expected to lose more steam as it moves over the mainland.

Hurricane Rick Weakens, Kills 2 People

Despite weakening to a Category 1 storm, Hurricane Rick kicks up big waves near Mexico's resort city of Los Cabos and kills two people. The storm is expected to continue weakening and approach the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula late Tuesday or early Wednesday, forecasters say.
