Speaking today at the Conservative Political Action Conference, right-wing pundit Ann Coulter said: "I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word 'faggot,' so I - so kind of an impasse, can't really talk about Edwards." Mo Rocca appears on a bunch of shows, including CBS News Sunday Morning (with the indescribably wonderful Charles Osgood), The Tonight Show on NBC, and NPR's Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! He's a sometime judge on Iron Chef and was featured on Telemundo's Amore Descarado. Last year he starred on Broadway in the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Well, if it's the difference between that or voting for our current war-mongering, narrow-minded, theocratic, boring, arrogant, just plain dumb President, then I'll choose gay (though it's not a choice). And if it were the difference between sleeping with Coulter or Edwards, as an enlightened man, I'd choose John. Mainly Ann likes to push people's buttons. Thankfully, the negative reaction she invokes says more about us as tolerant, educated people who can have civil discourse than it does about her. And bravo for the convservatives (who I respect and don't always totally disagree with) for standing up against her shenanigans.

I don't think very many people on either side take Coulter seriously anymore. There are so many brighter and more reasonable people on the right with which we lefties can hold intelligent conversations and dialogue. Let's face it: get rid of the long blond hair that some guys slobber over, and the too short dresses, who would pay any attention to this woman? She's a side show for cable news trying to fill time.
