A Hypocrisy That Knows No Bounds: The Newt Gingrich Story
Newt Gingrich, of course, claims the impeachment didn't have anything to do with sex. Laugh along with me. He says it was about upholding the rule of law. He told Dobson, "you cannot accept ... perjury in your highest officials."
Really? I assume that Gingrich will be leading the charge to make sure Scooter Libby is not pardoned and that he serves out his sentence. You cannot accept perjury in your highest officials! Newt, you said it. You cannot accept it!
No wonder I've been seeing Gingrich all over TV speaking out against Libby. Now it all makes sense to me. Wait, don't tell me that he hasn't spoken out on that case! If perjury about a private sexual affair in a civil case is unacceptable, then perjury in a case involving national secrets, revealing the identities of our agents and national security must be the most unacceptable thing Newt Gingrich has ever seen. I await his leadership in this regard.

1. Clinton lied under oath to prevent a woman from seeking her legal rights. That's what he did. You can talk about Monica or cigars, but in a nutshell, he lied under oath to protect himself from a sexual harrassment charge. Did Newt do that? Did he make a joke out of our justice system, by lying to people?
Scooter Libby was found guilty of perjury. Many people may not like it, but a court of law found him guilty and he'll likely be sentenced to jail time (which Clinton never was). He may be pardoned, but that's not the point. You miss the point as usual. Clinton broke the law and their were consequence. Scooter broke the law and their were consequences.

2. Elliott Abrams perjured himself in Iran-Contra, but I don't know what the consequences were beyond a pardon from 41 and a high level job with 43.
If Gingrich were so horrified by perjury in office and not using a wiiiide-ranging investigation to find any political cudgel he could to whack Clinton with, then why hasn't Gingrich mentioned Abram's perjury and position?
It just doesn't make sense. He's on Fox almost as much as Hannity and I've never heard him mention Abrams. Maybe he should do that, so as not to appear hypocritical.

3. it was pretty close to witch hunt with Clinton. We really didn't need that; it was a politicized, organized prosecution of a person, with the terms of the accusation slipping this way and that. Hypocritical? Newt? yes, he is. Most finger-pointers are, aren't they?
