Yesterday on CNN, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R-TX) said this: "We are fighting for the freedom of our children more than any war we have ever been in."
The other poll question I was thinking of asking was "Is she on meth or crack?"
Honestly, how can anyone say with a straight face that the Iraq War is going to affect our freedom more than these other wars? These Republican Senators have become a caricature of themselves. You kind of want to laugh, but it seems cruel. It's like laughing at a kid with a learning disability. It doesn't seem right.

1. Cenk, the ST between you and Jill on AT is nearing unbearable. Just sleep with her already.
Second, you SWORE you would post on TYT.com about Jill leaving TYT and going to AT
And buddy. Let the Republicans play themselves out... you can try to argue with them all you want but they have their "talking points" (i.e., divert attention to Bill Clinton) which force you to bring yourself down to your level. Just let history take care of these incompetent lying scumbag pork-belly racist narrow minded bigot attention whores.

3. I would think KAY is correct due to the fact that in the other Wars we knew who our enemy were. This is a Terror War were the terrorist hide among the people which could also happen right here in the USA since today we, the USA, are so diversified. And the country is so divided since the democrats have politicized the War on Terror simply to regain political power. i.e. Just look at the recent anti-war protestors in Portland Oregon.

5. Hutchinson's comments are preposterous. Iraq is the only war that taxes have not been increased to pay for it. Iraq is the only war where profiteering has been so widespread without oversite. Where are our millions of draftees? Where are our millions of volunteers? You cannot promote a war under the pretext of proven lies and deceit. Hutchinson proves again she is nothing more than a partisan dupe of this administration.

Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson is at least partially correct. A thoughtful juxtaposition of current events against human history leads inescapably to the conclusion that sectarian terrorism does, indeed, rank with the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and World War II as a threat to our freedom. If left unchecked, radical Muslim terrorism will shortly be sufficiently organized to bring nuclear jihad to our soil. Imagine the consequences from even a small-yield fission device detonated in one of our major cities.
Throughout history, radical sectarian leaders have regularly used religion to persuade those without hope to hate those who have political and economic power. During the last 30 to 40 years, these sectarian leaders in the Middle East have used religion to persuade those without hope to hate the United States and its citizens. These people want to kill us, and they have wanted to kill us for a long time.
Neither President Bush nor any prior U.S. president caused this situation. We are the most benevolent major society in history, and we did not cause these people to hate us. Although we have made many foreign policy mistakes, since World War II we have protected and helped to reconstruct Europe, Japan, and South Korea, where freedom and independent market economies now flourish. We are the first nation to provide aid when natural disasters strike in other countries, and we have an admirable record of promoting human rights world wide.
On 9-11, those who wish to kill us realized sufficient organization to launch a major, sophisticated attack on our innocent citizens in New York. This attack was a small part of a crusade that has been methodically pursued for decades. It was not simple criminal activity pursued by a small group of social misfits. Our best information shows that radical Muslim terrorism generates an income in the range of 1.2 to 1.5 trillion USD per year, more than any Fortune 500 company and about twice the GNP of the United Kingdom. This income is generated from trafficking in drugs, arms, and women, protection tributes, smuggling commodities, counterfeiting currency, and money laundering.
We shall be required to fight these religious crusaders for many, many years, and I would rather take the fight to them in Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, or Indonesia, than wait for them to bring the fight to us again in New York, California, Illinois, or Nebraska. This type of tribal/sectarian warfare infests all of recorded history, and in my view, those who believe we can avoid the war by withdrawing and isolating ourselves are ignorant or unintelligent or both. Yes, we will continue to lose soldiers in modest numbers, perhaps even my son. However, if we do not make this relatively small sacrifice to contain and disable the radical elements who seek to kill us, they will grow more numerous and organized, and there is every reason to believe they will bring nuclear jihad to our soil if left unchecked.
On this issue, I am completely behind our President. We must succeed in Iraq at all costs, or the sectarian terrorists will become emboldened and secure control of Iraq’s great petrochemical, agricultural, and nuclear resources to support terrorism that would undoubted reach our soil. This is really a no-brainer, and in my view, those who disagree with this are ignorant or unintelligent or both. Politicians who promote withdrawal from Iraq to gain political power are self-centered demagogues who criminally expose our children and grandchildren to the risk of nuclear jihad.
We must help the Iraqi people to overcome their sectarian differences and to establish a society in which the vast majority of citizens have hope. Only through the inculcation of hope can we suppress the power of sectarian leaders who preach hate for our country and us. This project will require many, many years of investment and sacrifice comparable to our investment in Europe after World War II, but it is the only obvious way to solve the root problem that is likely to lead to nuclear jihad if left to mature.
It is important to remember that Europe was a tribal basket case after World War I, and our isolationism permitted the conditions that lead to the rise of Hitler and World War II. If we permit the same thing to happen in the Middle East, we can most certainly expect nuclear jihad to reach our soil.

8. It seems to be highly fashionable lately for the liberals and the press in this country to divide us while engaged in a very difficult struggle for the long term safety and survival of our freedoms. Have we forgotten the lives lost on 9/11? Wake up, unite and back those brave troops who, by a vast majority, support and understand the purpose of our fight. The struggle against terror by a group of religious fanatics, may well turn out to be the most important struggle for the safeguard of our long term freedoms, if not existence. Thank you Mr. President for recognizing this threat and continuing the fight regardless of public opinion. Thank you men and women in uniform for trying to keep our shores safe and God bless you. I for one am totally behind your nobel efforts and was shocked to learn of the actions taken by our Democrat Congress - shame on them!
