Cenk Uygur claims that Nancy Pelosi, by visiting Syria, "is doing [President] Bush's job for him." In support of this assertion, Uygur notes that Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert "had to find some way to get a diplomatic message to Syria. So, he chose the one responsible senior US stateswoman going there -- Nancy Pelosi." But Pelosi wasn't sufficiently responsible to avoid the need for Olmert to issue a clarification of his country's position following the Speaker's public statement on the subject.
In light of "quotes attributed to Pelosi," Olmert's office felt compelled to say that "although Israel is interested in peace with Syria, that country continues to be part of the axis of evil and a force that encourages terror in the entire Middle East." Olmert's office added that "in order to conduct serious and genuine peace negotiations, Syria must cease its support of terror, cease its sponsoring of the Hamas and Islamic Jihad organizations, refrain from providing weapons to Hizbollah and bringing about the destabilizing of Lebanon, cease its support of terror in Iraq, and relinquish the strategic ties it is building with the extremist regime in Iran."
This, of course, has been Israel's position throughout, so Uygur is completely off base in claiming that Olmert is employing Pelosi to any substantive purpose. Instead, Olmert had to waste his time mopping up after Pelosi. But if Pelosi remembered to tell Assad that he's "part of the axis of evil," it was worth the extra effort.

95. Another reason Bush may not want to engage in diplomacy is because he may be planning a pre-emptive strike on Syria. Just my opinion. He did it to Iraq and I think he had diplomacy with them.

98. No one knows if Osama is in Pakinstan....and on the contrary many stories have floated around. The French has said that Osama died of Typhoid which sounds closer to the truth, since no one has seen or heard from Osama now in years. He is more then likely dead and certainly is no concern or worry unless his ugly head would appear and it hasn't. Osama since not being seen or heard from in years is of no importance when we have other terrorist alive and carrying on terror who are the focus.
Pelosii had no business going to those foreign countries and nor is it her business to take over the Presidents job. I only hope she did not do what I suspect she did. So far this woman has been of no help, but a real problem within our own body of people who should be helping, not interferring where its not her job.

105. Nancy Pelosi isn't skilled enough to be going to Syria, and Israel DID NOT tell her to deliver the message. They've been screaming about it since she did it. Pakistan is not part of the axis of evil because they do things like tip us off to a terrorist plot to blow up planes with liquid explosives. And no one, Republican or Democrat has been authorized to go to Syria. People don't understand the meaning of Commander in Chief. Bush is the only person authorized to set foreign policy.
