Why is Nancy Pelosi in Syria? Because George Bush isn't. If he would just do his job, we wouldn't have to send U.S. Representatives to the region to let everyone else know that there are at least some sane people left in the country.
Every sane president has done diplomacy and negotiations with our allies -- and our enemies! Ronald Reagan met with and negotiated with the Soviet Union countless times. And they were the evil empire!
Is Nancy Pelosi, or the three Republican Congressmen that were also in Syria, going to get a deal with Bashar al-Assad? Of course not. But that's not what they're there for. They are there to simply open up a dialogue which can one day lead to a reasonable agreement.
In fact, Israel's Prime Minister asked Pelosi to pass a message along for him. Since Bush the Child is not playing with Assad anymore, Ehud Olmert had to find some way to get a diplomatic message to Syria. So, he chose the one responsible senior US stateswoman going there -- Nancy Pelosi.
Conservatives keep arguing that Assad is a bad guy. Wow, you figured that out, genius? Of course, he's a bad guy. Does that mean the mature, diplomatic thing to do is to turn your back and pretend he doesn't exist? You can hold your breath until you're blue in the face, but Syria and Iran will still be in the region when you come up for air. Just because you wish they weren't there isn't going to make it so.
If you're in any way a capable statesman, you find a way to make deals with your enemies that are to your long term advantage while maintaining short term stability. In other words, the exact opposite of what Bush does. He creates incredible short term instability (the civil war in Iraq) to get to even worse damage in the long run (strengthening Iran by handing them a Shiite partner in Iraq). Come on man, step aside already. If you won't to do the job, let someone else step in.
Fire Cheney already before he starts another war -- and as you can read here, he is definitely trying -- and hire a real statesman. Bring in James Baker. He knows a thing or two about diplomacy. There are hundreds of Republicans left over from the first Bush or even Reagan that know how to handle foreign affairs deftly. Do us all a favor and bring one of them to lead the hapless Bush in another direction. Otherwise, Nancy Pelosi will have to keep doing his job for him.

16. It is absurb to think that talking to a terrorist-supporting state will accomplish anything. Did we converse with Hitler during WWII? What would that have done? Hitler wanted to bury us, and words would not have solved anything. He was a fanatic like the current Islamo-fascists. Do you think that UBL would have a sit-down with an American? Sure, he would shake Pelosi's right hand, then stab her in the back with his left hand. It is so difficult to understand that there are actually people in the United States that believe that talking to these psychos will accomplish anything. They would love to destroy everything about our society. The first people to be "gone" would be the Hollywood elite and the gay people, since this would be terrorist's prime target. Yet, these are the people that defend the terrorists. How ironic. This is nothing new, as the liberal viewpoint is always so irrational. They do not understand "true evil". Liberal judges are more likely to release sex offenders and criminals early. Go figure. So, Nancy is just showing the irrational liberal mindset.

21. Thanks Nancy Pelosi for representing the American ideals of Freedom and Equality for all people, during your visit to Syria. These concepts are the very cornerstone of our democracy, and our hope for mankind is that all humans will have the yoke of intolerance and subjugation lifted from their backs. The antithesis of this philosophy is on display in the Middle East every day in Syria, Iran and other dominated Islamic theocracies; that is:
1. Slavery- Subjucation of women in these societies; women are deemed somewhat less human then males. The symbol of this Slavery is the imperative for women in public to cover their head with a scarf to symbolize their inequality/inferiority to men.
2. Religious intolerance - Not allowing the practice of Religions other than Islam.
3. Despotism – The lack of freedom of choice in speech, written word, and choice of Governance.
So how does Ambassador Pelosi represent our ideals of Freedom and human dignity when she arrives in Syria? Nancy places a yellow clothe scarf on her head, the very symbol of female oppression, for all Syrians and the world to see during her many private and public photo ops. This was an extraordinary heinous act, considering that at the same time, the Dictator of Iran was humiliating a kidnapped British female sailor in full world view, by parading her forcibly attired with the same ignoble symbol.
I suppose that if Nancy had been an Ambassador to Germany before WW II, she would have worn a symbol on her to make that maniacal Despot feel more comfortable with his oppressive agenda.

What's her military background and experience? Where did she receive her education and training in military weaponry and world peace negotiations? I have faith in George Bush because, unlike too many in Congress, he has both military experience & expertise, and a backbone. But, whether you're a fan of the President or not, he was elected by the people to serve the people of the U.S.A. Nancy Pelosi has never been subjected to the scrutiny of a national vote, and in her aggressive ignorance, she scares me to death. If she wants to be President, she should run for President. Otherwise, she should stick to doing only the job she is authorized to do.
