Nancy Pelosi's visit to Syria has met with the approval of Islamic Jihad and the terrorist from the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades who seized the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. But, to their credit, key elements of the liberal press in this country continue to be appalled by Pelosi's attempt at diplomacy with Syria. Thus, USA. Today finds that "Pelosi stepped out of bounds on [her] ill-conceived trip to Syria." USA. Today happens to disagree with the administration's policy of not talking to Syria. However, it understands that disagreement with the president is no excuse to "violate the long-held understanding that the United States should speak with one official voice abroad - even if the country is deeply divided on foreign policy back home." In other words, USA Today understands the meaning of loyal opposition in our democratic system.

17. Give me a break! I'm embarrassed every time Bush speaks "for me", and especially when its abroad. The constant rerun of huge hateful demostrations against the USA and clearing out miles of humanity to ensure his safety makes us look bad every time.
Bush has been obstructing 70% of the American people's desires for heavy duty diplomacy, as well as a phased withdrawal from Iraq. This is not "my" war or "our" war. The people this war belongs to are the neo-con mess in the White House and Congress and 30% of America. It decreases America's security every day by spawning more insane Muslim terrorists. As usual, we Democrats have to clean up the mess.
Its time to stop the bleeding in Iraq, and keep our eye on the monster the White House allowed out of the cage, Iran. I'm VERY happy we have two huge warships parked right beside them - that insane nation CANNOT get a nuke. I just hope nothing blows up while Bush is still commander in chief, we need a competent top general in any potential future rough times.

18. Nancy Pelosi, second in presidential succession only to Dick Cheney, is acting like a citizen of the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. She visited Syria, whose Golan Heights land has been militarily occupied by Israel since 1967, and the Israel Lobby and other members of the War (Republican) Party cannot stand it. Their idea of a visit to Syria, Iran, and Iraq is to drop large bombs on innocent civilians. Their mantra is "Israel uber alles!"

23. What's disturbing about Pelosi and Lantos going to Syria to convey their "alternative Democratic foreign policy" is that their attempting to act as parallel Secretaries of State.
Our true Secretary of State is confirmed by the Senate and must answer to Congress in order to speak on behalf of America. Ultimately, Pelosi only answers to her District in California even though she claims to speak on behalf of America.
If she doesn't wait until the '08 election to act presidential, our first female house speaker may also be our first Logan Act conviction.

25. It is obvious that Pelosi and others are trying to pressure President Bush to change the course in Iraq. I vehemently disagree. There has been a significant change in the course of history, and, in my mind, because of that ironic twist of fate, President Bush should stay the course.
