Nancy Pelosi's trip to Damascus received rave reviews from an asortment of terrorists, but was the subject of concern in Israel and among certain liberal media outlets here at home. Now Lebanon's Daily Star weighs in, calling her trip a "fool's errand."
The Daily Star is unhappy that Pelosi told Syria's dictator that "the road to solving Lebanon's problems passes through Damascus." The Lebanon newspaper reminds the dilettante diplomat that "the spirit and letter of successive United Nations Security Council resolutions, as well as Saudi and Egyptian efforts in recent weeks, have been destined to ensure precisely the opposite [of what Pelosi is encouraging]: that Syria end its meddling in Lebanese affairs."

16. Pro Israel / U.S. conservatives and Israel want nothing but destabilaztion of the Middle East and the destruction of Lebonese and other non-Jews because of Israel's extreme hatred of non-Jews and White America's hatred of Islamics. That 20% of Lebanons Christian population was effected by Israel's unjust onslaught on defenseless Lebanon is something American Christians will have go into denial about this Easter. Note that once Israel had to get its hands dirty and 350 of its soldiers were killed it promptly backed out of what it had started. Israel is happy to see US soldiers dying to defend Israel however. Pelosi's trip may lead to nothing but at least she thinks for herself rather than the puppet Bush being led by his handlers to label millions of people "the Axis of evil" so he can start wars which have killed half a million Iraqi Civilians (any Jew will tell you they think the body count in Iraq is fantastic an that they hopes nuclear bombs are soo used).

17. Nancy Pelosi's trip was a wel planned publicity
stunt. I'm glad that she went. The United States
needs all of the good press & diplomatic publicity that it can get. As far as she listening to Bush, why should she. He is not credible and commands no respect.
That stubborn old fool, should have been the one
to traveland representthe USA.

18. Israel IS the only stabilizing factor in an otherwise constantly unstable Middle East. The racists remarks of post #15 is nauseating. The Middle Eastern countries have been unstable for centuries because they have internal to themselves more conflicts than Carter has liver pills. Add the fact that they have neighbors, and it get even more complicated. Diplomacy in that region has always been difficult because there are so many different conflicting factions within each country that claim to be representative, the only true stability is strengh and unity. Something those countries will never have. Israel is strong and united in their struggle to survive in that part of the world.
Now Nancy Pelosi plays political games there, as she does here, with dire consequences.

21. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Electing Peloisi as House Speaker was the stupidest thing the democrats have ever done.

22. Pelosi is not the President of the USA, only Speaker. She has broken the law, and consorted with the enemy.

23. Ms Pelosi has, firstly, been courageous. Secondly, she may have helped open the door to futher dialogues between the United States and Syria.
In the face of the Bush regime's policy of no policy her action is praiseworthy and a positive step for American diplomacy.
The pro-Zionist bloggers have reacted as anticipated.
As to the Daily Star newspaper in Lebanon, it is basically an organ of the Christian Right which seeks to ignore reality: Syria plays an important role in Lebanese politics.
Long before there was Israel (Occupied Palestine) and a Lebanon the French, attempting to divide and conquer in the Levant, amputated the Bekaa Valley from Syria and attached it to what became known as Lebanon.

24. What Ms Pelosi did was nothing short of treason. What I cannot understand is how come no one is brining her to book for it? Do we have an Attorney General or not? Is this a coincidence?

25. The United States does not talk to countries that sponsor or harbor terrorist groups. Syria sponsors terrorist groups, including several pro-Iranian terrorist groups in the Bekaa. Speaker Pelosi's venture into Syria was not the least bit "courageous". To be anti-terrorist does not first equate to pro-Zionists, it is just "anti-terrorist". As posted earlier, every TERRORIST on the planet and the DEMOCRATS are RAVING about Nancy Pelosi. If it quacks like a duck.........it's a duck.

26. My hat is off to Nancy. Had this administration had enough sense in the beginning of this war with Iraq to speak with the surrounding countries, we might not be in the mess we are now in. Thank God, there is someone here that can represent the rest of America that is not war-mongering.

28. Pelosi did the right thing. The United States should try to have diplomatic relations with every country in the world. This is a big step towards peace.

29. The Anti-Democrats versus the Anti-Republicans have their heads buried in the Middle Eastern Sand. The Whole of the United States of America's Foreign Policy is lost because of the lack of simple diplomacy. The American and Islamic religious freaks versus the American and Islamic political freaks keep running and chasing the same old circles.
