Nancy Pelosi's trip to Damascus received rave reviews from an asortment of terrorists, but was the subject of concern in Israel and among certain liberal media outlets here at home. Now Lebanon's Daily Star weighs in, calling her trip a "fool's errand."
The Daily Star is unhappy that Pelosi told Syria's dictator that "the road to solving Lebanon's problems passes through Damascus." The Lebanon newspaper reminds the dilettante diplomat that "the spirit and letter of successive United Nations Security Council resolutions, as well as Saudi and Egyptian efforts in recent weeks, have been destined to ensure precisely the opposite [of what Pelosi is encouraging]: that Syria end its meddling in Lebanese affairs."

61. i thought jimmy carter had been allowed more than enough privilege to destroy the dignity of the united states back when he was consorting with the enemy and now he has a partner to help him do even more damage to our country. or should i have said "HER COUNTRY" when an american goes to an enemy country and consorts with them, especially against the wishes of the president and the rest of the country, she should be tried and punished for her crime. the speaker has underminded the president and the president is pretty much allowing her to run the country.she is not even smart enough to be a janitor, much less the speaker of the house. she is trying to dominate everyone in washington. the president needs to do his job and put this senseless ,no good, has been in her place. MR> PRESIDENT>>>>>>DO YOUR JOB!!!!! Marvin.

62. Stupidity doesn't come close to describing this ignorant woman!!! She needs to stay here and work on issues that directly affect Americans instead of getting involved in and screwing up international efforts. Condoleza Rice is doing an incredible job, Nancy needs to leave it to the PROFESSIONALS!!!

65. Anyone of you tlaking about national stability or security ought to look at the druggies, wife beaters, pimps, crooks, conartists, murderers, rapists, etc crawling all over U.S. of A....
YOu who are worrieda bout national stablity must already have a gun or two of your own and you are already less concerned about our domestic matters like crime , etc than overboard!!!!
That is your way of thinking that will not cut the mustard, sorry about that. You can have it your way...
If you keep it that way, I amy consider taking away your second Amendment, you friggin crunky rednecks!1

66. Pelosi went to Syria because it is much safer there than to stroll through Philadelphia or cities like crime ridden ones.
She would be kept in the bulletproof limo at Philadelphia. She can stroll freely at Syria where Muslims observe strict laws. Muslims hate Americans because we are pimps, wife beaters, drunks, conartists, druggies, hackers, pedophiles, bullies, crooks, rapists, shoplifters, smokers, pissants, and (drum roll) INFIDELS~!!!!!! Whatever it means, I dont care...
We Americans are too busy makeing a buck and leaving the sufferings behind here and overboard.
You friggin crunky rednecks will no longer be able to bear arms under Second Amendment... I am doubting you more an dmore ....

68. Nancy Pelosi did just what needed to be done, establish a dialogue. If we waited for stubborn , hateful, bully, Bush, we'd remain isolated from the world, just like Bush wants it. He has never tried diplomacy, doesn't even know what the word means. In his mind, he really thought he'd RULE the world when he invaded Iraq without resistence. How fooled he was...it is hard to believe, that we actually have citizens in our country that are so illiterate, as to believe his lies and his playing politics games with our troop's lives and put America in jeopardy.. Anything Pelosi can esablish on her trip would have to be a plus for the next President. Why beat up on her for trying to have some sort of peaceful dialogue for the next President? Republican Senators had been to Syria just before she got there. Why were they there? Beat up on them, too, if you still prefer to be ignorant. Bush has spread his hate throughout the rest of the nations, which demands dialogue with nations who still will permit it with the U.S. This is the worst possible thing is to have adversaries and not try to amend differences, but then, this is the worst, most stupid President we have ever had, too.

69. It seems to me that most of the comments are indicative of the political views of the respondents. There are the "Bush" haters who reflexively respond with visceral hatred of anything and everything he stands for. Then there are the Pelosi haters who hate her "liberal" politics. The issues involved are much more complex than what 99.9% of the posters believe. The Middle East is complex with religious and tribal hatreds that go back millenia. Americans, with their myopic view of the world can never understand how they think over there. The Islamists believe that all will be right with the world if only the world converted to their view of an Islamic theocracy and was subject to their law. The Liberal left feels that "Love and dialogue" will make everyone friends and we'll all live happily ever after. Speaker Pelosi feels that everyone will drop their hatred eventually if we just "talk." The President's advisors feel that with patience and a big stick we can bring democracy and free elections to a part of the world where democracy and free elections are anathema. That part of the world, in turn, doesn't know where we stand because they are used to a government and society where everyone in the mainstream speaks with one voice and dissent and divergence of policy within the government is NOT tolerated. Until we understand the complexities of their societies and start looking at solutions from an "objective" viewpoint rather than a Democrat,Republican,Liberal,Conservative AMERICAN perspective, we are doomed to failure. We need to talk to each other first before we can expect them to enter dialogue.

70. This is why the left want to get in control to under mind the president. They have hated him since he won office. Yet, the left claimed that they would spot the spending and get things back under control. So what happens. Nancy wants a bigger airplane, then she must have been drop on her head. Then she decides to go to Syria at out expense. I just wish she would have stayed there.

72. Pelosi has no concept of the reason she was placed in office as an official elected by her constituents. She clearly should not be where she is in that she has demonstrated her lack of understanding of the purpose Congress serves. I do appreciate her work in Syria. she has demonstrated to America that the Demoncrats cannot do what they purported. President Bush has the wherewithal, as did FDR, to continue on a course good for the country.
Greg B at 4:03PM on Apr 8th 2007
73. If Nancy Pelosi had coordinated her trip with the Bush Administration it would have been better received. But the olive branch of peace has been extended to Syria and those of it's ilk on an ongoing basis by the American administration. Only to be rejected consistently. This leads to the conclusion that Pelosi's trip was a farce and a juicy prize for the forces of anarchy.
