Barack Obama seems less smart and fresh today after using the killings at Virginia Tech as the vehicle to call things he doesn't like -- Don Imus' comment, corporate downsizing, "children whose voices aren't heard" -- "another kind of violence." That stuff is another kind of violence, all right -- the kind that isn't violent.
Meanwhile, AP reports that John Edwards spends $400 on haircuts from a Beverly Hills "celebrity stylist." Even Bill Clinton settled for a $200 haircut from Cristophe. Of course that was more than ten years.
Having camped out in Iowa and New Hampshire, Edwards sometimes is forced to spend less than $400. In Dubuque, Iowa he makes due with a $250 cut from the Design Works salon. In Manchester, New Hampshire, he frequents the Pink Sapphire, which calls itself "a unique boutique for the mind, body and face."
I don't blame Edwards for wanting great haircuts and perhaps other beauty services. Other than his wealth, Edwards' looks are his best asset.

1. John Edwards is not about just a pretty face, and if you don't know this, then stop talking about what you don't know! What have you done for your country, for your fellow man, to help poverty, to help restore peace, to fight during hardships and keep the faith and keep going, because you believe there is a better way, and John Edwards knows how to get this country back to where she once was, or had you rather us stay with our current propaganda fed Administration? Being fed lies, cover up after cover up, well move to Texas, you might like it there. John Edwards Rocks!

2. Being Swift Boated will be replaced this cycle by being Pink Sapphired.
I am curious what the normal, non-travel price on John Edwards hair cuts cost?
Does this man of the people not see any hypocrisy in talking about poverty while enjoying such extreme indulgences personally.

3.
The comments about Edwards' vanity are a little below the belt in my opinion.
Although for once I really had no idea what Obama was talking about, his comments didn't make a whole lot of sense.

true- has a decent caboose on him, too.

5. I'm sorry. I simply can't imagine voting for someone as self absorbed as this for President of the most powerful nation on Earth. He doesn't just sit there and get made up, he takes an active and disturbingly earnest part in it.
Not to mention his limousine liberal, "largest estate in the county" lifestyle while whining about "two Americas".
Absolutely off-putting.
Breathtakingly hypocritical.
Meanwhile, Bush of course could care less about his hair style, and his ranch is among the most energy efficient and Earth friendly imaginable, and he doesn't say jack about it.

Yeah Gary....like you would ever vote for a Democrat anyway. But good luck trying to play that off as a legitimate reason not to elect a democrat. I'm sure vanity is the primary concern of any American.

8. I do not agree with this blog at all. Bill Clinton, Dick Cheney, John Edwards, etc all started out with nothing and through their own skill (and with Cheney maybe a few added tactics) made a lot of money. How they spend it is their business and wealth is on both sides of the political aisle. The only difference I can see between a rich Republican and a rich Democrat is that the Republicans don't want to share anything, and the Democrats do. Being rich and caring about only rich people is the Republicans' dominant theme. Being rich and caring about those who were born with less talent, less drive, or less chances and caring that no one is left out in the cold is the Democrats' dominant theme.
Plus, Edwards isn't the only one talking about two America's. Jim Webb talked about it expressly in an op-ed in the NYT. Webb is a former Reagan Republican who couldn't stand what his former party had turned into. His son serves in Iraq, while the Bush daughters live off their trust funds safe at home.
Even though I'm only running for the person with the trashiest car in the condo parking lot, I'm one of the many people in America who are talking about the two Americas. The wealthiest one percent own 2/3's of all American assets yet only pay 55% of the taxes. That extra 11% of taxation, in comparison to what they own, would do a lot to bring down the huge debt Bush et al. have created. Not only that, it wouldn't affect their lifestyle in the slightest.

Roller coaster.... Depending on which poll you read this week, Barack Obama trails Hillary Clinton by 2 points, 5 points or 17 points.... Today's Washington Post-ABC News poll shows Hillary holding a commanding 17-point lead over Obama with Al Gore running third and John Edwards running fourth....

10. Mc's comment is precious... I mean hilarious!
Please expound on what, if anything, John Edwards has done for his country, his fellow man or to help anyone. This is a guy who made hundreds of millions suing doctors for malpractice they didn't commit and injuries they didn't cause.
John Edwards talks of two Americas and about poverty, but what has he done other than build a 40,000 square foot mansion, and live a lavish lifestyle?
He's done nothing to restore peace. To keep "the faith" or anything. John Edwards may have some ideas for a better world, but he's clearly unwilling to live by them himself. He's the textbook definition of "phony."
John Edwards is a tool. A charismatic tool, but a tool nonetheless.

More to the point, what has John Edwards done? He was a zero as a senator, a zero as a VP candidate, and now he's a gussied up zero as a Presidential candidate.
Corlyss at 12:32PM on Apr 19th 2007
12. Former Senator(short term)-couldn't win his own state-Edwards actions are not only breathtakingly hypocritical, they are alarmingly stupid. He is trying to sell the Two Americas schtick, while he is firmly entrenched in the America he rails against. And Mr. Edward's money is as dirty as it comes. As a trial lawyer he sued OB doctors out of business by blaming them for Cerebral Palsy caused by not delivering by C-section in a timely manner. It was his specialty. Too bad that multiple studies have now shown that delayed delivery has nothing to do with CP. Maybe he should return all his riches to the physicians he stole it from. He is a crook and a shyster, and does not deserve even a moments consideration as President.
