A tough news cycle for Hillary's opponents

Barack Obama seems less smart and fresh today after using the killings at Virginia Tech as the vehicle to call things he doesn't like -- Don Imus' comment, corporate downsizing, "children whose voices aren't heard" -- "another kind of violence." That stuff is another kind of violence, all right -- the kind that isn't violent.

Meanwhile, AP reports that John Edwards spends $400 on haircuts from a Beverly Hills "celebrity stylist." Even Bill Clinton settled for a $200 haircut from Cristophe. Of course that was more than ten years.

Having camped out in Iowa and New Hampshire, Edwards sometimes is forced to spend less than $400. In Dubuque, Iowa he makes due with a $250 cut from the Design Works salon. In Manchester, New Hampshire, he frequents the Pink Sapphire, which calls itself "a unique boutique for the mind, body and face."

I don't blame Edwards for wanting great haircuts and perhaps other beauty services. Other than his wealth, Edwards' looks are his best asset.
