Cenk Uygur calls the story about John Edwards' $400 haircut a "right-wing hit job." However, he neglects to supply any evidence that the "right-wing" is responsible for the appearance of the story, much less its resonance with late night comedians and, indeed, anyone who likes a laugh. The work on this particular story appears to have been performed by AP, hardly part of any "right-wing conspiracy." AP based the story on documents filed by the Edwards campaign with the Federal Elections Commission, and confirmed the facts by interviewing the Beverly Hills stylist who gives Edwards the expensive cuts. AP then contacted the Edwards campaign which declined to comment.
Nor is Uygur's attack on the AP story very convincing. He's forced to acknowleged that the $400 haircut "appears to be true." He objects to the reference to the $225 of services Edwards received from the Pink Sapphire boutique in New Hampshire, noting that this money was spent on make-up for two TV appearances. But the article makes it quite clear that this was the case, and that the services he received were not exotic (no facials or cucumber peels on his eyes). In other words, the reporting was fair, leaving readers (and comedians) to make what they will of make-up jobs that expensive (most TV studios can perform wonders in five minutes).
Finally, Uygur forgets to mention that the centerpiece of Edwards' campaigns has been his "two-America" theme. Any candidate who focuses his pitch on how well the rich have it and how hard everyone else must struggle to get by can expect ridicule if he decides to pay ridiculous prices for basic grooming services.
We may or may not be two Americans, but with a few exceptions we have one sense of humor.

1. Actually, it's a New York Times hit job, fully chronicled on:

4 hits on Edwards' hair in 3 days from the Times.

Look up the term "non sequitur"

3. how about refuting global warming by pointing out that at one time the Yosemite valley was covered in a thousand feet of ice, and something melted it, and it sure wasn't charcoal grills or SUV's.

4. So like to Pope is a total hypocrite because he's always going on about how we ought to help the poor but then he runs around in that swanky popemobile and all those gaudy outfits and stuff. There's no way those things are cheap.
And since you seem to think that in order to talk the talk you've got to walk the walk it seems to me that you've either got to enlist or shut the hell up about the war. And it's no excuse to say you're too old to enlist. Just lie. There totally desperate. They will believe you.
As I said before, you look really silly (more than ususal)when you post stuff like this. You should go back to refuting global warming by pointing out that it's really cold in, say, when you put your air conditioner on full blast.

5. 1. It means does not follow. Are you saying that what I said does not follow? If so, why not? Please, pretty please, enlighten me. Or is it true just because you said it?
2. So are you saying that if something happens naturally it cannot also happen non-naturally? Because, say, forest fires just sometimes happen with no human intervention at all. But in order to get the burner on my stove to work I have to turn a little knob-thingy. What up with that?

7. No, your non sequitur is that since the Catholic church has a lot of money and that makes the pope seem hypocritical, one then cannot make a point about how John Edwards seems to be a hypocrite. See how that doesn't make sense? How that "does not follow"? Or maybe you don't. Judging by your posts, it wouldn't surprise me if you can't quite grasp the concept. You seem to just be resorting to a typical leftist argument technique that is just to throw out unrelated and unconnected talking points (why, again, are you mentioning the pope and global warming in comment attached to a post on John Edwards?) and somehow feel that one has made a point. Which you haven't. You've only made yourself look foolish.

8. So it really is just because you say so. You're actually incapable of articulating what it is that seems to be out of place. I don't know...maybe if you keep saying it eventually it'll seem like it's true.

10. So Spicoli, tell me then, why are the polar ice caps on Mars melting then? Could it be that the source of whatever warming we face is that giant orange thingy in the sky?

11. And here in Dubuque, according to our local paper, he spent $248 for a haircut! I pay $20, tip included, and have NO idea how any man could possibly spend $200+ here, short of a 'spa day' or some 'special services'!!!
